Quick Entry

Yes, I know I pretty much disappeared there for awhile. Life’s been rather busy, to say the least. To recap the Blizzard we got to begin February, we ended up with nearly 19 inches of snow and widespread 5-8 foot drifts, with reports of 10-15 foot drifts in the country. In fact, on the south side of Rockford, a snowplow got stuck in an 11′ drift. The tow truck that was dispatched to get it out also got stuck so in the end they had to get some special kind of truck to get it out.  At the bottom of this entry are some videos I took from my windows to give  you an idea of the snow here. Classes ended up cancelled for that Wednesday and Thursday. By the time I got up on Wednesday it was done snowing but the wind was still howling and blowing the snow everywhere.  We got enough snow and wind that it pretty much shut down the entire area for two days while everyone dug out. To make matters worse, it got bitterly cold on Thursday too. Anyway, February was a busy month. During the week I read for classes and the weekends were spent doing legal writing homework, whether that be writing the motion & memo or doing research for our appellate brief.  The appellate brief is a huge project for us – the argument section alone is going to be around 20 pages of writing. The  first argument is actually due tomorrow (and I should be writing it).  There’s been a lot on my mind in recent weeks and I’m hoping to get a chance to write about it this week.  I’m going to try and be better about writing, but we’ll see how that goes.

Snow is a pain. At least you have more time to do everything.

Sometimes life just demands all your time. I completely understand that. RYN: The bees were in the wall but not in any of the rooms. They were getting in from outside where there was some kind of hole or crack in the wall into the open space inside their wall. They didn’t get in until we opened the wall to remove the hive. Plus they don’t rent, so just abandoning it wasn’t really an option.
