My Brother’s Graduation
After a long afternoon of travelling, I’m safe and sound in my hotel room in Syracuse, NY. This weekend is my youngest brother’s college graduation. He’ll be graduating from Cornell University with some physics degree. Next fall, he’ll start at UW on their doctoral path for I think nuclear fusion. In any case, I spent the afternoon travelling after dropping Sammie off at the kennel (and it’s a nice kennel too – I think her anger at me for leaving her will fade as the weekend goes on). My parents and I had a late dinner at Denny’s after my flight got in. Tomorrow we’ll leave the hotel about 8:30 and get breakfast before driving nearly an hour to Ithaca, NY (where Cornell’s campus is located). During the drive, I’ll be working on my entry for the Law Review Write-On competition. Yes, that’s right – I’m gunning to make law review. Entries are due by 11pm on June 15th. There are 25 spots open and those that do well enough will be offered spots by the end of June. Anyway, graduation weekend at Cornell means two days of events and long days by far. Hard to believe it’s been two years since I was out here for my other brother’s graduation. I fly back to Wisconsin on Monday morning, arriving in Wisconsin around 12:30 pm. I’ve decided not to drive back to my apartment until Tuesday (why deal with nasty holiday traffic when it’s not necessary?). I’ve pretty much decided to go with my mom on Tuesday to pick up Sammie – make sure she’s not still mad at me.

I bet Sammie will be fine. I had to leave my dog, Bear, at a kennel once when I flew to Vegas and boy, did I feel guilty. She was fine two days later when my husband was able to pick her up. Hopefully, Sammie will be fine, too. 🙂 Good luck with Law Review!!!
