LSAC
LSAC is seriously making me tear my hair out. I gave them another call today just to make sure there was nothing holding up the processing of my letter of recommendation. They say there’s not, but seriously! Given that we manage to do it where I work, you would think they could track things from when they’re received, not just when they’re processed. For the fees they charge you would think they could handle that. But apparently not. There’s no way to track the letter of recommendation until the letter’s in my file (at which point, I can see it’s in my file – but that doesn’t do me any good right now!) So they suggested sending it again which I did have my recommender do. At this point, they would have probably received it yesterday or Monday, in which case it *should* be processed by the end of next week. If it’s not processed by January 18th, I’m giving LSAC a call and giving them a piece of my mind because seriously – I don’t care how busy you might be, this isn’t rocket science.
In other news, my badgers lost at Michigan State tonight while my brother’s Cornell team also lost tonight. My badgers need to win on Saturday for this not to be a lost week. Otherwise, it will closely resemble a particular week in 2008 that started so well and ended so ugly. Anyway, both teams lost tonight. It sucks, but it’s life.
I decided to take off three hours early on Friday January 22nd. It’s after my brothers leave but before my parents get home. I’m actually doing it as a schedule modification, so I’ll be working late Monday and Tuesday of that week, working until 5:45 instead of getting off work at 4:30 like normal. That’s okay, since my parents will be gone and my brother’s couldn’t care less if I’m at home. So I’ll be going home at 1:30 that Friday. I decided I needed a little time off, and something to look forward to in terms of time off. This way I get some time off without using PTO just in case I need some of it later on.
The other thing at the moment is that it’s getting ready to snow again. It looks like we’ll end up with 4-6 inches of very very very fluffy snow that will blow everywhere at the slightest breeze. Where my grandparents live, they’re supposed to see 8-12 inches. We’re supposed to go down there after work on Friday, but with the snow that may not happen. The snow’s supposed to end late in the day tomorrow, but the winds will still be breezy through til Saturday morning, and with the snow as fluffy as it’s going to be, it won’t take much for that snow to blow everywhere and cause drifting problems. It doesn’t look like we can go on Saturday as we’re having furniture delivered and then of course my parents leave on vacation next week – a week from tomorrow in fact! Hard to believe their Hawaii vacation is here already. So they leave next Thursday, I need to order Beignet mix early next week, and then my brothers leave for school two weeks from today. And then my parents get back on Monday the 25th of January.
