I Hate Being A Pincushion
And that’s about how I feel right now. I had my pre-surgery physical this afternoon. I got the flu shot while I was there (and now of course my upper arm hurts) and then to draw blood, they had to stick me three times. Once in the crook of my right arm (if I’m lucky, that one won’t bruise badly). Then they stuck me on my left hand (that one’s already starting to bruise). Finally, they got a vein that they could use. Except it runs over that bone that sticks out right above your wrist. So they stuck me there on my right wrist. That one seriously still hurts and will be a nasty bruise when all’s said and done. And of course, by the time the bruise complete goes away, it won’t be long before surgery and that’s likely where they’ll have to stick me again. Oh well – such is life I suppose.
In other news, it POURED today. Poured to the point where it didn’t help us any. We’ve been so dry and while the little rain we got on Sunday helped, it didn’t do enough to ease the dryness. So when it poured for six hours today, there was no way the ground could soak up the water…so we’ve got lakes everywhere. Oh well. Set a record for most rain on this date in the city and most rain in September in the city. Another few hundredths of an inch tonight and we’ll crack the top 10 daily rainfall records. In case you’re wondering, our official rainfall total for the day is currently at 3.63 inches. In any case, it’s clear by our weather (and the trees) that fall’s finally arriving. Weather wise, it’s been an interesting year. We never really had a summer – just two short periods where temps were at 90. There was one in June and one in either July or August, I don’t remember now for sure. I think it was August though. We never had any severe weather really (a hallmark of our summers). Overall it was a cool and dry summer. Makes you wonder what fall and winter will bring.
Not much else going on really – I’ll be heading down to IL with my parents on Saturday – I haven’t been down since Labor Day so it’ll be good to go down. It’ll kill the day, but it will still be good to go down and see my grandparents. I was looking at a calendar today and was thinking again about where the year went. I mean seriously – it’s the 22nd of September! It’s interesting how individual days go REALLY slowly, but mostly weeks go by fast (though they are exceptions) and the months have just flown by.
I’m glad the usual tv has begun again. Bones was great last week and NCIS was terrific tonight. Tomorrow night I’ll watch Criminal Minds and that should be good, given where they left off at the end of last season. I’ve only been watching Criminal Minds a year. I never could get into before Joe Montegna came on board. But once he was on board, I got into it after awhile. It’s an interesting cast to say the least.

Doing that kind of thing to people is one of the reasons I wasn’t keen on being a paramedic.

Oh man, I don’t like being poked a lot either! I can live through it once, but not multiple times! I had to get a ton of shots before the mission, it wasn’t fun. 😛
