Finally!
We are finally done (for now) with this insane weather pattern! Of course, it’s not coming to an end before another episode of mother nature doing something forecasters didn’t expect. As of last night, we were under a winter weather advisory from 3am today through 3pm today. The forecast was for up to .1" of ice and 1-3" of snow. However, I got up this morning to find that we were under a winter storm warning. The ice forecast hadn’t changed, but the snow forecast had drastically changed…4-6 inches. By the time it all came to an end around 3pm, we’d gotten around 6 inches of snow.
However, the insane weather pattern that kept bringing storm systems has come to an end. It looks like our next chance at real snow isn’t for almost a week (that doesn’t count the occasional flurry or snow shower between now and then). Of course, it’s still going to be cold – colder than usual. If I had to guess, I’d say we have a white Christmas. Whether we have a traditional white Christmas (snow on Christmas Eve into Christmas Day) remains to be seen, but I’d bet that what we have on the ground stays on the ground past Christmas.
The running joke amongst the local meteorologists lately with all the snow storms we’ve had is if we get any more we’ll have to start naming them! We’ve had so many in the last 10 days or so – one right after another. We’ve had so many in the last 10 days that to call them storm 1, storm 2, etc – you start to lose track of them…
I made a remix on photobucket of the second batch of photos I took today. The link’s here. The link to the first batch of pics is in the entry before this one…
