Computers

Okay, so I’ve had my current laptop for almost four years (four years in August).  Lately it’s really been having troubles and when I got home from New York on Monday it was really giving me fits.  Prior to Monday, I had intended to wait til the Christmas holidays to buy a new one, hoping that the prices would go down with the holiday.  However, Monday made it clear that that likely wasn’t going to happen.  The brother that’s home helped me get it running well enough for me to deal in the meantime….but yeah.  So I took my other brother up on his promise to help me pick out and build a new laptop on dell’s website.  So on Monday night we started that conversation and we talked more about it last night and some more tonight and tonight I bought my new laptop.  It’s the Dell Inspiron 15 laptop.  I’ve put in the specs below and for now I’ll leave the prices in there.  The current estimated ship date is 6/9 and the estimated arrival date is 6/15.  I can’t wait for it to get here now:) I’m really looking forward to having a computer that runs well.  If you’re wondering why I didn’t get Microsoft Office, it’s because we have a copy here that I can legally install on it, plus I intend to use OpenOffice for my word processing and other Office needs.  Those who know computers, feel free to tell me what you think 🙂  My brother essentially told me what to pick. 🙂

RYN: Sorry about the confusion – I don’t know if you are familiar with the Personal Progress program for Young Women? The Church leaders recently added an 8th value (which are like Christlike attributes), Virtue, to the program. When I did Personal Progress, I only had the 7, so I was excited to buy the insert for the Virtue value and do all the activities for that one. Each value has “experiences” which are different activities you do, sometimes scripture reading, or giving service to someone. Then after that you can do a Value Project that relates to that value (for Virtue it is reading the Book of Mormon, which I thought was interesting). So that is what I have been working on – the Virtue value for Personal Progress. I don’t have to do it, but I want to! I learned so much from doing Personal Progress. So that’s what I was talking about.

RYN: lol, I understand. If I didn’t serve callings in Young Women as an adult for 3 years, I wouldn’t have known the new program either. 🙂 They are pretty similar, but the new one is organized by the values instead of years/classes (Beehives, Mia Maids, Laurels). It is also a lot more focused on reading the scriptures. I love it! It is so inspired.
