I seriously love how much faster my day goes when I’m on incoming calls. Today was on incoming through about 12:45 (I’m on lunch from 12-12:30) and then the rest of the day was outgoing calls. While I’ve discovered that I like taking incoming calls, I’m really not interested in the career path offered through a call center. But I like being able to answer questions and get people the help they’re looking for. That’s one of the key differences between reaching a borrower on outgoing and getting a borrower on incoming. The ones on outgoing, you’re more likely to get a borrower who just doesn’t care than you are on incoming. The ones that just don’t care drive me nuts and seem to be more likely snap at you for calling at all. Mostly I think we wouldn’t be calling if you’d pay your student loans, or gave us a call on your own to discuss some options. So long as you just let it sit there without paying on it, or refusing to talk to us or let us leave a message, we’re going to keep calling. They might think it’s harassment, but in that case have a talk with your Congressman, because on federal loans, we have to meet certain federal requirements when an account goes past due. We’re required by law and if we don’t, we get into trouble with fines and whatnot when we get audited. So I’m really sorry, but if you don’t like it, pay your student loan. Anyway, the day goes better when I spend a significant portion of it on incoming calls. Right now, I start my day on incoming. How busy it is determines how long I’m on incoming right now. Some days we’re off incoming by 9am, some days it’s 2:30 before it slows down – it really varies. Mondays tend to be busier though.
Let’s see…what else is going on right now? Not really a whole lot. The biggest thing is trying to figure out what to get my dad and one of my brothers for Christmas. It just became really easy to get Stephen’s Christmas present. He’s graduating from grad school next May and this last weekend, got a job offer to work in the Pac Northwest come post-Graduation. So he’ll need stuff to set up an apartment. As a result, I’m taking a walk through Bed Bath & Beyond tomorrow to look for things. I’m especially looking at a sturdy plastic cutting board for him like the one we had here at home growing up. But as for my dad and Jason, I’m really stuck and neither of them are very forthcoming with ideas. The problem with Jason is that he’s away at school and I really don’t have any idea of what he needs/wants. As for giving those around me ideas, I’m not kidding when I say the thing(s) I want most can’t be bought. I want a good LSAT score and I want to get into law school.
In other news, I’m not headed to Brianna’s this week. I do need to play with the song the Women’s Choir is singing for the Christmas program this next week, and then I’ll play with some of the new stuff from Sally DeFord to see if there’s anything there that looks interesting. At this point, Brianna and I will look through some of it in January to see if we want to do a duet together or if she wants to play for me again (I’m open to either). Either way, it’s fun to play with the songs on the piano. I’m hoping to learn the piano – as in actually learn to play instead of just plunking. It’s actually one of my 101 goals in 1001 days. Right now I’m up to 34 goals. I decided to wait on the start date until January 1st so that I could come up with 101 goals. When I get ready to start it, I’ll post the list, and every so often I’ll make a note of how it’s coming. The site allows me to mark not only when a goal’s completed, but when a goal is currently in progress (that’s especially helpful for the longer terms goals). Some of my goals are temporal in nature, some are spiritual in nature, but we’ve been told to set goals in all areas of our lives, so having temporal goals on there is good too 🙂 Plus I figure if I get better at achieving temporal goals, it’ll help with achieving spiritual goals as well.

that’s cool about the job offer. It’s a rough time for finding any opportunity, and that’s a beautiful area.
