Glitch in the machine
It is so cold that the soles of my feet are freezing THROUGH the soles of my shoes. I obviously should have picked up those thermal socks from boots earlier in the day. Its gone midnight in the twee Dickensian streets of Marlow, but there are lots of people still out high fiving one another and walking with intent towards destinations sundry or not.
A sense of Deja Vu and foreboding sweeps through the half of my mind that isn’t frozen and I furrow my brow and try to think why. I’ve been here before. Actually no, this is the first time I’ve been in this town. I’ve seen you before. Again no. I have no idea who you are. I know what is happening? No. I don’t. actually I’ve walked straight past my car.
*Wink*
did the lights go off? Each tasty chilled breath leaves a steamy condensate hanging in the air.
*wink*
Something is happening. The lights are going off. What? Keep walking.
*Wink*
???
I look up as I trundle under the Christmas lights hanging across the street from steeple to guttering. The moment I walk under the next set. It winks off.
*Wink*
!!!
I stop and look back down the street to the war memorial. All the lights behind are off. That half of the street is bathed in darkness. ahead of me, twinkles and burning gaslight.
step. step step. step
*Wink*
The lights I am standing under black out the moment I step under them. I look up in puzzlement and amusement. A certain thought flits through my head, too quick for me to catch it. But slow enough for me to recognise its been here before.
A certain sense of Deja Vu…

I lose my car probably once a week – I have to park miles away from the supermarket in order to guarantee being able to park in the same spot and not have to wander aimlessly pressing my keyring in the vain hope I might catch a glimpse of a flashing indicator!
