Amazing yet infuriating

The public Transport system in London, is at once amazing and infuriating at the same time. If you stop to think what it does, Carry millions of people from A-B through C, around D, Under E, Up F, Below G and across H. every single day, with trains, buses, tubes and the odd boat. It is a work of art. a Swiss chronometer if you will.

Of course, If you ever buy a Rolex, the manual will state very clearly and in no uncertain terms that you have to take the watch in for servicing once a year, which will cost you, as they have to re-gas it with Nitrogen, exchange the plutonium power source and tune the warp core to 9.6 deci-mili-cochranes. Reasoning why Casio are still in business.

Its the same with London Transport. It is amazing, and when it works and everything is on time, It is an incredible feat of engineering. But when it stops working, It sucks. To the maximum.

Which is why the car still exists. Point to point transportation. from your door to the other door, without having to leap Banzai style into an overloaded carriage filled with 500 people who have done a 10 hour day and hence. smell. ever so slightly. a lot.

I so need to sort out my car insurance its just not funny.

🙂

The one thing you don’t get when you are in the car, is a copy of the metro to read.

Yup. This is why I love London and hate London at one and the same time. I particularly hate it when on a smelly tube with my nose stuck in someone’s armpit. I love it when I can hop on a tube and emerge neatly at the other end with only yards to walk to my destination. As you say, amazing, yet infuriating.

i could definitely put an argument across for the metro being the single best newpaper in the land! xxx

I loved this entry. Ah, memories of the tube. I know exactly what you mean – people do slag the tube off a lot, and it IS a royal pain in the arse when it’s not working properly, but it’s pretty amazing that we have such a complex system. The Paris Metro really makes you appreciate London Transport, I tell you.

ryn: yup. law and order. i thought it was a cool pic cuz it had everyone in it, even though a lot werent on it at the same time.

October 10, 2006

This is a universal problem. I’ve never even been to London and yet, I hear you. But your metro cartoons are better than ours. RYN: serously, what is is with Grosse Pointe Blank and OD’ers?

October 10, 2006

p.s: don’t talk to me about public transport lol *rolls eyes* the sooner i learn to drive the better! hahah -x-

Oh, the underground…romantic smells of stale sweat and what I vaguely think is soot? Ours don´t go under ground…of course they aren´t in time anyway, and the train guards are extremely rude. Gotta love Nemi.

October 10, 2006

I love the Nemi strip in the Metro! In fact, I just love the Metro, the other newer freebie papers aren’t as cool! -x-

October 11, 2006

lmfao – I love the Metro, it is the highlight of my commute into Leeds City Centre! RYN: Yes it does work out, I’m being nostalgic, and updating on my life because I’ve been away for a year, and a couple of my readers used to read my old diary. Christie xx
