Sobering

My good friend Jane was spending the weekend with me, and she woke me up at 4 am because she’d OD’d on ALL her prescriptions. Somewhere upwards of 100 pills of varying kinds and strengths.  She got scared when she started feeling the effects and decided she didn’t want to die, and tried to throw them up. When that didn’t work she (thank god) was still able to wake me up and I got EMS there. I’ve been at the hospital with her since then.

I’ve lost one rehab friend recently due to OD, I am not prepared to lose another. And certainly not this way.  I am so grateful to God that she was still capable of coming to me. This morning would have been totally different had she not. And God only knows how long I’d’ve left her “sleeping” on my couch before I realized anything. So grateful.

Fucking life turns on one thin dime, people. Freight train out of nowhere runs you down before you can blink.

Life is precious. Take the chances. Buy the shoes. Eat the ice cream. And most of all, love yourself and your tribe.
