Other things

I’ve got an NA meeting tonight – Eric will be there. It’s where we first started talking – we’d been in group a few times together, but hadn’t had s conversation until the first night he came to this meeting. I think it’s only possible to be spending time together if we’re both putting recovery as a priority.  We’re both in it to win it, and our using lives were miles apart, we’d never have hung out together back then. We’re only able to hang out now because we’ve both left all that behind us, and are in the same place now.

Went to group today, even though I’d already fulfilled my obligation there this week. It can never hurt me to go, and I do gain a lot from going. It keeps me facing addiction head on, and gives me tools and a safe place to test them.

Ahhh, the kids. Quick catch-up:

Kaleigh is 19, she’s been dating Brian for 4 years, and they’re planning to get an apartment together this summer. She’s a sophomore at Towson university, doing very well, working 2 jobs.

Chloe just turned 16, Jess gave her a car – wish he’d adopt me instead of divorce me lol. Boyfriend of about 8-9 months, sophomore in high school, advanced classes. Broke her wrist snowboarding in January, so now she and I have matching metal plates and screws in our wrists.

J2 is still mama’s boy, mama’s love, polite and respectful and caring. Gets his heart broken a lot because face it, 11-12 year old girls can be mean, and he wears his heart on his sleeve. It will pay off for him one day. He’ll be 12 in April.

Jess and Laura are still together, I don’t talk to either all that much, but we have found a space to get along.

And then there’s me, and you know what’s up there!

It’s good to hear about the kids. I can’t believe how grown up our kids are getting. What is K studying in college?
