Titi, I found what I was looking for. You’re lucky I know you were stationed in the city because the Hibbert Street Building’s got a soul as black as Beelzebub’s. If I wasn’t 100 per cent sure about you I wouldn’t be writing this. I’d be out of here.

Let me put this in terms you might understand: the troops in the HS Building were not with the UN; they did not report to the World Health Organisation; they did not have the same brief as you, or any of the UN troops in the state; they were working for FEMA.

Cpl. Penelope Guinn and Pvt. Sergio Morricone were part of the task force sent in to the city by FEMA – under the guise of UN troops – to locate and secure an object believed to contain the genetic coding of the reanimation virus (RaV).

It’s believed that RaV genome replication occurs in the cytoplasm – a microenvironment protected by membrane – beginning with genome translation, producing the viral replicase (being an RNA virus). RaV recording involves the continuous RNA synthesis following copies of subgenomic mRNAs. The requirement of base pairings has been proven. The code for the pairing is believed to have been smuggled from Elk Station by one Estelle Mary Harvard.

Elk Station (EKS) is a military outpost in Alaska. RaV may have been developed there and at the very least was certainly contained there for a period of time. Whether EKS was the source of the outbreak is unclear, but in my opinion it seems unlikely. The Infected are susceptible to cold and any leak in Alaska would be easily contained. Unless, of course, the leak was planned, rather than as a result of human error–another issue yet to be cleared up.

There is probably more information locked away in the HS Building and since the ‘object’ containing RaV’s genetic code hasn’t even been identified yet we’ve got more work to do. I’m going to break in there and see what I can find. If you’re going to come with me be in the lobby at midnight.
