all done
I had my last shift with the seasonal Easter work today. It was a good experience, and made me realize that with my time spent at Kumoricon added to all of my retail experience, I do believe I have the skills and abilities to handle assistant manager or manager at a store of my own. It’s just a matter of paying attention to trends, schedules, and budgets. All easily enough done. Sure, you have to factor in school schedules and possibly child labor laws, but it’s really not that difficult. The one lesson I did learn is if I do get management I need to make sure I’m salaried if I have to take phone calls/text messages at home, or plan to track time spent on work stuff and get the company to pay for it if I’m hourly. The 6:30 am (early o’clock in the morning for me, I’m a night owl) text message the other day from one of my employees having to call out was not pleasant to wake up to. I know the first thing I’m doing though. Catching up on sleep!
ryn: thanks! i read about it in the sherwood gazette last month. and my good friend, vicki, called and spoke to someone at trimet personally. the 94 is going to be picking up the slack and running more often, to help meet demand 🙂
