It’s been a long time since 22…
Back to the cold Northern Alberta we’ve come to call home.
Miami was amazing. Our seats for the Heat game were one row behind the Courtside seats behind their home net. So just a little to our right was where the Heat players ‘bench’ was. I got an amazing photo of Lebron James about to sink a 3-pointer. It’s on my Instagram.
I picked a fight with Sam the first night. Don’t ask me why I choose such moments. We’re finally financially stable, and for some reason I’m way more stressed out about Money now than I ever was when we struggled to live.
Here’s the thing. When we signed our lease, they gave us two free months of rent (nice eh?), so the first free month is your first month. It worked out because October was our first month and when we got married. Perfect.
No where did it say that May was our second free month. April is our seventh month living here, and what we were told was that any month after the sixth month. So, Sam made out all of our rent cheques for the rest of the year, and clearly informed the management office we were taking April as our free month.
So April 2nd, maybe an hour before we were set to fly out, we got an eviction notice. Sam called the office and they told us, on our lease it said MAy was our free month.
Since we were in a hurry he just said fine.
I had asked him to confirm that April was going to be cool, but they didn’t notify us once before said ‘eviction notice’ that April was to be paid and May would be comp’d.
So we flew ove night to Miami and got there around 11am.
By the night I was exhausted, even though I had napped. We had a perfectly lovely day, but the money stress hits me at night when I have nothing else to occupy my mind. So I picked a fight. I haven’t been in the habit of picking useless fights since I was in my early 20’s.
So we didnt sleep much and slept in quite late Thursday. I called the rental office and told them I would pay their 25.00 late fee if they could just switch our free month since we were away, and they have our May rent cheque anyways.
So she agreed. Like it was no big deal to begin with. Sheesh, like you couldn’t have told us in a reasonable time BEFORE about the change, or make this change?
Jesus.
Drama aside, Miami was amazing, even though it rained 2 days we were there.
We didn’t make it to the beach, even though the beach was one block from our hotel!
Thursday, I had a tattoo appointment at 6pm, and Sam was going to have a consult for a saturday morning tattoo.
So after we woke up and got ready, we shopped for a bit! I bought Tiffany sunglasses, some Victoria Secret stuff, and Sam loaded up on Jordans lol. The thing about the US is that our dollar was pretty close, and everything is priced lower.Sam usually spends a couple hundred on one pair of Jordans. He got 2 pairs, and sandals for less. Love US shopping!!
Once we were all shopped out we then headed to that Tattoo parlour. I got the words "and they lived…" tattoo’ed on the side (pinky side) of my wedding ring finger.
Since it had poured for a while on Thursday South Beach was as deserted as I assume South Beach gets, so the tattoo parlour was slow. The artist (CJ at Salvation Tattoo/ Washington and Lincoln if you’re interested) has only been tattooing for 2 years, and he is self taught, on himself. He was so excited to do Sam’s tattoo, that since no one was coming in he did it that night.
So after I got my ears stretched (from 10g to 6g… ouch!) we grabbed a bite so Sam wouldn’t die during his tattoo. His took until close to midnight. The people at Salvation were awesome. By the end of the night we all felt like ol’ buddies! Sam’s tattoo is beautiful. Once it’s healed we have to send CJ pics for his portfolios. Watching him tattoo was incredible. He makes it look so easy and effortless. Beautiful!!
Thursday was another late night. Actually they all were. Friday especially since the lady above us walked around her room all night in heels, we didn’t sleep at all that night.
So Friday we picked up some game day gear and we chilled with Katie. It rained all day. So we had dinner at Rosa Mexicana. Everything I ate was amazing. We also went to Serendipity 3 for frozen hot chocolate. It was so nice to see Katie! I miss her tons… also she brought us Red Velvet Cheesecake from the Cheesecake factory!
Saturday was game day. I started out crabby because bitchy upstairs sounded like a herd of elephants was feng shui’ing her room ALL Night.
It was so bad at 6am we left. We left to grab food and came back and slept til 11am, when she woke back up and put her heels back on and caused a ruckus. I have never once complained about something at a hotel, but this was too much. We weren’t even convinced it was someone walking around because the hotel rooms (called studios) were so small, we had no idea what one person could possibly be doing walking around all night in such a small room.
So we readied ourselves for the game, and went out for sushi before.
What an amazing way to end the trip! It was so surreal. It was incredible! Sam had been stressing because they had been sitting the big three… much to his excitement, they played Lebron, which is all he wanted.
After the game, we went to "Cheeseburger, baby" for some late night eats. We had gone the first night we were in Miami, which just so happened to be the night after the "Busta Rhymes" incident. Food is good. I’m not much of a burger person, but they do make a good burger! We heard them talking about what went down with Busta. He hurled homophobic slurs at one of the employees when he didnt let him cut the line. Oh Busta. Get your shit together, son.
Saturday night bitchy upstairs started in to her late night clammering around woke me up. Since we had a 6:30 wake up time I wasn;t having it. The front desk told her if she didn’t stop, she’s out… so we finally got some sleep 🙂
It was a fast, packed 4 days… but it was amazing!
Our next trip is slated for the end of the month or mid-may… It’s Rocky mountain time!!
Happy day OD! xo
