Corticosteroid Detox Day Four..

I saw a naturopath this week when my eczema made a new home on my face. I didn’t mean to see her right away, but she had an opening, and lucky me, because I was going to wait two weeks until after our trip to Edmonton. Well, we scrapped Edmonton and decided to invest in our health for now.

Sam’s back is acting up, so he’s been seeing a Chiropractor. He missed three days of work, and he’s on light duty for now. He’s figuring it out, I hope he’s ok, I’m trying not to stress myself out over it because my health depends on it. Stress isn’t going to be good for either of us, so we’re trying to be chill both of us.

I’m in detox. It hasn’t been stellar. It been pretty awful. My naturopath put me on a pretty strict detox for the next month, and my eczema, either loves it or hates it, because my problem areas are lit up like the fourth of July.

Last night I barely got 2 hours of sleep. It was brutal. Nothing soothed it. I had stopped smoking weed in preparation for having babies, but fuck, it seems that pipe I smoked was the only thing that put me at ease enough to sleep.

I spent all day in bed, reading the blogs of other people detoxing from cortosteroids, people who have been using them far more intensely and far long than I. It gave me hope, I mean the worst part is the beginning… Tomorrow is Day 5.

Sam was concerned, and asked me if I would just use the steroid to stop the itching, and after much research and my insistence not to, we realized that I made the best choice.

I don’t know what changed, but at some point this afternoon my arms soothed out. My neck too. Last night it was my neck that was the worst.

So far my face is clearing up and not getting worse. I hope this continues, but I’m not holding my breath just yet.  Day 5 can be full of surprises, and night is the worst time, it’s when Eczema attacks.

The thing is that, I went to her because I had eczema on my face, but my other flare ups were under control, and now it’s the opposite. But. I’ve learned a lot about corticosteroids, and I’ve been taking a corticosteroid puffer for a long time, and that worries me what this detox will bring. I really don’t want to lose my hair 🙁

Well, just a quickie. Sorry I’m not noting, I’m still reading, just don’t have the heart to participate fully.

Take care all.
