Yay! a little drabble of writing!
The sun was shining, turning down her radiant countenance to warm the earth with her soft touch. The tall grasses were gaily dancing in the playful summer breezes that swept across the open fields. Songbirds sang their tunes to the rabbits that were playing tag.
Of course that didnt last for long. This loveliness was shattered by a female voice.
Youre red!
I know, replied a soft, annoyed male voice. This is the fifth time youve pointed this out to me.
I didnt think guys had such fair skin.
Well, they do. Especially in the mountains! Its what happens when lighter colored skin encounters sunlight for a long period of time. I keep forgetting though youre a tomboy, youre quite the prissy princess.
No need to get pissy! I just want to know if it hurts.
The young man finally halted, his armor creaking and clanking together at the sudden stop. Would you please drop the annoyance? Id rather not have to continue on without as you are supposed to be helping me, not hounding me. He sighed, bringing his hand to cover his face, pinches the bridge of his nose. I would appreciate it if you would simply just leave it be, and this is the absolute last time Im telling you. Yes, it hurts like hell. Theres a patch on my neck thats actually black, and it feels like everythings pulled tightly. Now, he huffed. Knock it off, Princess.
The woman opened her mouth for a smart retort when a hand laid itself upon her arm. Frost green eyes locked with iced blue and the princess received a gentle head shake of no.
He doesnt know you, princess, and your badgering is bothering him. He doesnt see it as friendly. So please, just dont do it. At least until he knows you better.
Ernest ice blue eyes watched her, and reluctantly the red-head nodded in consent. Fine! I just think hes being pissy.
The lavender haired woman shook her head, readjusting the headscarf she wore. Someday youll understand, princess. Someday.
The princess stomped her foot. I lost my father! Dont tell me to understand it!
The lavender haired woman grabbed the princesses arm when she saw the younger man visibly sag, shaking his head. She dragged her away under the watchful eyes of her two guardians who ironically turned a blind eye, and once she was far enough away, she smacked her.
Frosted green eyes stared at her wide eyed.
Now you listen to me you pampered bitch! Your father simply disappeared. Its not that hes dead; hes just not in this area! Erdric had to burry the only people who were parents to him. The person he cared for sacrificed herself for him. They were slaughtered to protect him. His whole village! Bits and pieces scattered around. Her eyes flashed in anger.
Not only this, but he was taken by the man were hunting. Tortured, hurt, and literally broken. He made his way to Mara and I by sheer dumb luck. Dont tell me that your pain is greater than his. If you do, then youre more of an inconsiderate bitch than I first though you were! With another parting smack, the woman walked away towards her sister who was trying to talk to the quite young man.
He was shaking his head at the tail end of the conversation she caught.
You should see Saltatsus, Erdric! Its wonderful! I mean, theres liquor flowing, dancing, singing, and and all sorts of things!
She grinned as she came up to Erdrics other side. She means puff-puff, she laughed as laid her hand on his back at his confused expression. Although I dont think you want to get involved in that situation. Its basically a fluffy name for legalized prostitution, although they dont take care of the girls who end up in bad situations due to it.
Erdric watched her out of the corner of his eyes. And you mean to say you guys lived there for how long?
<P class=MsoNormal style="MARGIN: 0in 0in 0pt”>Eh, seven years, I think.
He shook his head. Im shocked that you put up with it, Nara, but Mara Im not surprised He turned his head to look at the peach haired beauty on his right. Not surprised at all considering her gambling addiction.
Maras pale violet eyes went wide. Erdric! You promised not to mention that!
Well, where did I find you, dancer? At a slot machine, in a seedy basement of the Lorithin inn! I find it quite funny. He shook his head again. Are you done beating up on the princess, fortuneteller, or are we going to get to this town after dark?
Nara made a face, her lips pulling into a frown. I didnt beat her up, Erdric! I simply talked some sense into her.
And that wasnt a slap I heard? No wait, make that two slaps I heard?
Nara huffed and crossed her arms. People need to think before opening their mouths.
Erdric laid gentle fingertips against Naras turned cheek. But, Nara, didnt you consider me mentally wrong, strange, weird, and not all up there?
She looked at him with wide ice blue eyes as her mouth worked to voice something.
He smiled slightly at her expression. Shoe on the other foot now?
Mara laughed at her older sisters expression. Nara, I think, has taken an interest in your welfare since her unfortunate mislabeling of you. She grinned at her sisters olive complexion flushing. And I think it might be more than mild.
Nara threw one of the glass balls that adorned her scarf at her sisters head. Shut up, you shark! She readjusted her headscarf as she stuck her nose up in the air. Like he said, lets get moving! We dont want to arrive at dark when the puff-puff girls are out. With that, she stormed off the direction the convoy was moving in before the incident.
Erdric looked at Mara and arched an eyebrow.
Yes, Erdric, shes always like that. A bit like you once you break your ice.
Throughout the whole exchange, the princess and her two advisors watched the playful banter between the three of them. The princess was not too happy with the way shed been treated, but with a gentle restraining hand, her advisor, a young man with soft green hair and dark green eyes stopped her.
I think she was right, Princess. Watch him he carries the burden of us all on his shoulders, and a few of us keep pressing down instead of lifting up. If you keep up your behavior, he might break beyond repair.
He shook his head as he started to walk towards their young leader. Hes right though. We dont want to be around here once night falls. I heard from Mara theres some nasty creatures around here Most notably a bloated, monstrous duckbill platypus thats white.
The other advisor laughed, shaking his long grey beard. Xristis, I believe she has pulled your proverbial chain.
Xristis turned around and laughed as he turned around to walk backwards. So says you! My eyes are only on one person. With that, he threw a kiss towards the startled princess, and turned back around, skipping even in his heavy armor.
Shall we go, princess?
Brey was I wrong? The woman stuttered as she started walking after the large merchant traveling with the group. I mean, I jumped the proverbial fence, didnt I?
The older man chuckled. Princess, it is called opening your mouth and inserting your foot. Hes probably more tired than the rest of us considering hes the one making all the decisions, hes quite sunburned, and considering what the fortuneteller told you, theres a lot more to him than meets the eye. Just give him some room and Im sure hell come around. He patted her shoulder as he laughed. Hows that cheek?
