This Entry Brought To You By The Letters F And X

Well, after Christmas carols and whatnot, I was eating the last egg roll from the Chinese we’d ordered, and Jason asked me something.  So, I started, just from habit, signing out my answer.  I only know the letters, but though it’s slow, sometimes it’s enough.  But I’d forgotten, Jason doesn’t know the letters.  So, after I’d swallowed the egg roll bite, I looked at him, and said, “Okay, come here.  I’m teaching you the letters for this.”

So, I showed him what each of the letters was, and the only ones that he had problems with were F and X.  His fingers just didn’t seem to want to move in the way to form the letters.  I mean, F is supposed to be a circle made with the index finer and thumb, and the other three fingers straight up.  Sort of an “A-OK” sign, I guess.  But when Jason tried it, his ‘circle’ looked more like a triangle!  Lol.  He kept trying to bend his index finger, but his other fingers bent down as soon as he managed it.  It was really funny.  And X, I’m not even getting into, because it looked like his fingers were gonna crack every time he tried it!

But, I will give him this.  For someone who’s only really gone over it and learned it last night, he did pretty well.  He masters things pretty quickly.

Honestly, if his memory was along the lines of mine . . .   It scares me what he could accomplish if that was the case.
