Stargirl

Leo Borlock is a high school junior, I believe, when he meets Stargirl for the first time.  She was homeschooled until her sophomore year when she decides to enter public high school.  No one knows what to make of her, but initially, her influence serves to make the school a better place.  People start emulating her, they enjoy her company, she and Leo get together and he’s never been happier, but then . . .

But then, everything changes.  She becomes an outcast.

And suddenly Leo finds himself faced with a question he doesn’t want to answer: Who’s affection do you value more, hers or theirs"?

This is an excellent book about nonconformity and loving who you are.

RYN: Car accidents kill people before they should die, too.

RYN: I didn’t. I accidentally deleted the entire entry while I was editing it because I suck.

RYN: Oops, I lied. I was thinking about a different note and entry. I made the note private because I felt that it was a horrible way to go about “encouraging” someone not to smoke.

RYN: I’m still in the “I get cranky” phase of not smoking, but I’m getting better at it. 😉

RYN: Beautiful became 85 lbs right about the same time people started saying “Your thighs are a bit thick” to people who are well within the average weight range for their height.

Yes, I do. I didn’t realize how much until I had a dream about L the other night. We went to the same school and solved crimes together. Had to get him distracted from Misa first though.

RYN: It’s fine. I’m sure I was just PMSing. 🙂

Thank you for the note.

That was a letter, written to someone copied and pasted into my diary. There was a lot more to that statement. I deleted. I guess being ashamed, but it read in terms of I am not a good person or I would not have five children by four fathers. It was easier to put a single mother then try explaining all that to everyone who asked. I do understand where you are coming from, but like I said, there is a lot more to it.

I write all the poems I post. . . and your comment on religion reminds me of a joke I made up: If America is supposed to be one nation, under God. . . does that mean we’re in a missionary position?
