R.I.P. Phil . . .

I finally saw Jill on AIM for the first time in a long time. I IMed her, but when she wrote back over, I could tell immediately, just by how she said, “…hey…” that something was wrong. But I didn’t expect what I got when I asked what was wrong . . .

She told me that someone in her grade had died in the present war. Then, she mentioned that there was worse news. Her friend, a girl named Keri, must be an absolute wreck, because it was her husband. When I read that, my blood ran cold. Because I knew that Keri had a longtime boyfriend, but they’d broken up, and Keri had gotten together with Phil. Phil was someone I knew from an acting class years ago, when I was in middle school. We met again when I was spending all my time at Matawan, meeting Mike at his high school, or whatever.

That poem seems extra ironic now . . .

And now I find out that . . . he’s dead. I’m . . . in shock, here. Phil . . .
