My Take On Harry Potter

Everyone’s doing entries about how they’re feeling concerning the last Harry Potter movie coming out and the movie series finally coming to an end.  And it kind of creeps me out that a lot of people seem to be mourning it.  I mean, seriously?  They’re movies.  And this last one, with the sheer amount of popularity these movies have somehow received, (despite completely gutting the books, especially in some instances,) means that it will be in theaters for a good long run, so all the Potterites can go see it a bazillion times.  Then there’s the fact that each of them is already out on DVD and at least in most cases, Blu-Ray.

I don’t get what there is to be depressed about.  We all have the books, we all have the DVD’s, this newest one’ll probably be out for sale before the end of the year, and of course, there’s all the puzzles and wands and other memorabilia one can buy.

I mean, I felt a little down knowing in 2003 that Return of the King was the last LOTR movie and that there was nothing to anticiapte the next year.  But at the same time, it was a relief, because we were at the end.  I finally got to see, (even though I knew what would happen,) what was going on at Mount Doom to Frodo and Sam, and in Gondor with Aragorn, Gandalf, Gimli, Legolas, and the rest of them.  And the movie version wasn’t even the best part!  The best was when they released the extended editions and I got to see everything Peter Jackson decided not to put in the theatrical release!

::Shrugs::  When the books are still on your shelves, and the movies are still in your collection, I don’t get the whole depression and "it’s over" and "I stuck with Harry till the end" things.  Cuz in reality, ‘the end’ was when the seventh book was released back in 2007.

I’m a ridiculously huge Potter fan but I totally agree with you. What’s to be depressed about? I mean, books can be read as many times as you want, right?

ryn: I don’t mind the game; it’s the arcade that I can’t stand! The smell is overwhelming, but he says it’s just me. Whatever. It’s gross in there! ryn: They’re petit mal. Not only is a VNS extreme for petit mal, it’s extreme because of his age. We’ve only tried 4 or 5 meds. I think he’s stuck thinking twins would be treated with and react similarly to the same stuff, and it’s buggin’ me!

For me, the movie was just a way to hang on a bit longer. But I truly mourned in 2007. Now, seeing the last movie I was just sad that there is nothing Harry to look forward to (except – Pottermore! Which who knows how harry potter it will be, but by the name I’m guessing a bit! Hah!) RE: Yeah, when I was little I didn’t read much more than small (20pages or so) My First Chapter Book type of books

so to me, Harry Potter 1 was HUGE! Then My friend and I kept noticing them getting bigger and bigger and started making bets on how big the last one would be. Hhaha

I agree with this, but I do think a significant part of my childhood ‘ended’ when the movies did. Oh well, I still have the books. <3

ryn: And now you see why I’m trippin’. 😉 I’d like for them to outgrow it, I really would. But I never outgrew my asthma, so I know it’s a possibility that they might keep them or even worsen into grand mal. I’m just taking it one day at a time right now, hoping just to get him stable. I’m diligent with his meds, his schedule, and I continue to try to teach him to CALM DOWN!

This girl was so despressed (before the first part of the seventh movie was released) because she couldn’t find any online plot synapses to find out what was going on. Did she forget the movies were based on books? Or maybe society fotgot about books in general.
