Just For This Moment (Fanfic)
“AAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!!” Glinda screamed. She backed up and tripped over an old, dusty ottoman. What an ottoman was doing in a place like this, no one knew. But once again, she found herself on her back, her dress flipped up over her head and she heard a vaguely familiar voice asking if she was all right.
“Help… help me up?” she asked timidly.
A cold, rigid hand took hers and pulled her to her feet. She straightened her dress and looked at the one who had helped her.
“Boq! Or was it Biq?”
“Boq . . .” He stared at her. He’d forgotten how pretty Glinda was up-close. Old feelings stirred within him, mixed with his sense of utter repulsion at seeing her next to the witch.
“Boq,” she repeated. “So… um. What are you doing here?”
“I’ve… I’ve come…” He shook his head, looking away from her. “I’ve come because the witch is here.”
“W-witch?” Glinda said fearfully. “W-what are you talking about?”
He stared at the floor. As long as he wasn’t looking directly at her, he could ignore his feelings and remain unflustered. “I saw you two. You know she’s alive. And I’m not goin to sand idly by while you protect her.”
“Boq? Why won’t you look at me?” Glinda had an idea of why and she wanted to know if she was right. Perhaps she could use it to her advantage…
“Because…” Boq reminded himself of what he’d somehow seen in Munchkinland. “Because I can’t bear to look at someone who would help the witch! You disgust me! You’re despicable!”
