Entry 802 – As Long As You’re Mine

A Whole New World

I can show you the world
Shining, shimmering, splendid
Tell me, princess, now when did
You last let your heart decide?

I can open your eyes
Take you wonder by wonder
Over, sideways and under
On a magic carpet ride

A whole new world
A new fantastic point of view
No one to tell us no
Or where to go
Or say we’re only dreaming

A whole new world
A dazzling place I never knew
But when I’m way up here
It’s crystal clear
That now I’m in a whole new world with you
Now I’m in a whole new world with you

Unbelievable sights
Indescribable feeling
Soaring, tumbling, freewheeling
Through an endless diamond sky

A whole new world
Don’t you dare close your eyes
A hundred thousand things to see
Hold your breath – it gets better
I’m like a shooting star
I’ve come so far
I can’t go back to where I used to be

A whole new world
Every turn a surprise
With new horizons to pursue
Every moment red-letter
I’ll chase them anywhere
There’s time to spare
Let me share this whole new world with you

A whole new world
That’s where we’ll be
A thrilling chase
A wondrous place
For you and me

::Sighs happily::  Okay.  Wow.  How do I even start this thing?  God, I barely remember how yesterday started.  Oh, wait, yes I do.  I was downstairs in the living room, sleeping on the couch again, and it must have been sometime before ten when Mike was prodding me and saying that he had to tell me something.  So then he tells me about this computer virus that’s going around our circle of friends and that this person, that person, and whoever else has been having problems with it.  Largely, I’m lying there thinking, "Yeah, okay, great.  I don’t care, let me sleep, I’m not online."  (I do feel for the people who’ve had things screwed up because of it, I’m not trying to be callous, it’s just that I’d only had about four hours of sleep at that point.)  Anyway, he let me sleep, but woke me back up around elevenish saying that he had to get to Brookdale.  (Last available day to pay for classes.)  Then he said he’d go pick up his paycheck to shave a bit of time off the trip, and could we go when he got back.  I think I basically said to wake me up at twelve.

He did, I wanted ten more minutes, he bugged me again, and I did get up.  We drove down to Brookdale, he took care of paying for the things while I sat in the car and read, and we left.  He went to Game Factory and I stayed back at the house, doing some of my laundry, some of the dishes, and calling Rob.  We consolidated the songs we’re gonna do for the Strawberry Festival.  Supercalifragilistic, (No, I don’t feel like spelling the entire damn word . . .) Friend Like Me, Whole New World, Colors of the Wind, and I’ll be there for You.  My logic?  Well, how can Rev. K possibly have any objection to Disney songs?  He can’t!  And anyone else who does, well, maybe he’ll have to accept the fact that it’s their problem, not mine.

Anyway.  I called Rob, cuz the Disney songs, I was figuring we can do karaoke style and what better place to get karaoke CD’s than Jack’s music down in Redbank?  And on Wednesday, I found out that while he’s been to Redbank, (that’s where his neurologist is,) he’s never taken the time to explore the place!  So that cliched it, he had to come and we had to explore it.  So yeah, I called him and asked if he was up and all that, but said there were a few more things I had to do before I could leave the house, so could I come at three?

I actually think I got there closer to three-twenty and I called him as soon as I pulled up in front of his house.  He answered and I said I was outside.  Lol, once again, he was listening to Supercali and asked if I wanted to come in for a bit, cuz he’d found the lyrics.  So I did and I looked them over, but they didn’t have the entire song.  They cut out a stanza.  (And I noticed my book that I loaned him was sitting on the couch, so I snuck a look at what page he was on.  113.    Thirteen conspiracy!)

Not too long after, we left for Redbank.  We parked way down by Count Basie and walked up, stopping in the pet shop to see the cute little animals.  Lol, it was funny, I was bent down looking at a lizard when all of a sudden this cat meows and scares the bejeezus outta me.  I stood up and we were laughing and I pounded on my chest, saying, "Okay, come on heart, keep beating," and stuff like that.

We also saw these adorable little bunnies and I showed him the giant iguana that they have there.  Then we left and walked down further to the thrift store that’s there.  We went in and were looking around and I saw some books I read when I was a kid that I haven’t seen in years!  Ramona books and this other one called The Ghost Who Went To School!  Plus, there was this really nice pair of rollerblades that I probably should go back and see if I can get . . .

While I was looking around at the records, Rob found the rack with all the trench coats on it and he found one that he liked.  He held it up and asked what I thought of it and I said, "Hmm . . .  try it on."  So I held his other coat and he put the trench coat on.  (He looks really good with it on!)  And I did tell him that.  I pointed out the mirror, too, so he could see himself, and I said he should get it.  So he did.

Right after that we stopped into this hippie-ish place called Faith’s Aura.  The entire place smells of cigarette and incense smoke, but it does have some pretty cool stuff.  Including an Abbey Road throw rug for sixty bucks.  ::Drools::  I so want that rug . . .

And you know what was the absolute sweetest thing?  I was drooli

ng over that rug, leaning on the clothes racks and staring undobtedly longingly at it and Rob says, "So buy it."  To which the automatic response came, "Yeah, but I have no money."  And he offered to buy it for me, saying he had his credit card, he could put it on there.  I just kept staring at the rug, cuz I didn’t want to say yes, but I said something like, "Are you serious?"  And he said yeah.  I managed to decline however, cuz, (and I said this, too,) I couldn’t let him spend that much on me.  And I think I mentally added, ‘Especially since we’re not even together.’

He also saw a Kurt Cobain drawing that he wanted to pick up.  Lol.  He wanted to get it and was saying, "Okay, where else are we going?"  I suggested us going to the other places first, then coming back to Faith’s Aura.

We left there and went across to this place called Drummer’s Alley.  Then we stayed on that side, (and Rob almost got sideswiped by a bike rider,) and went down to Monmouth Music.  We stayed in the back for a little while, looking at sheet music, and singing different things we found.  Then we stopped in Funk and Standard.  That place has changed so much since I was younger!  It’s all small clothes and girly stuff instead of the funky action figures and whatnot that I saw there in the past.  Oh, well.  ::Sighs::  So we left there and I actually almost passed Jack’s, but I recognized the doorway.  So we went in and I told Rob I was gonna go upstairs and check for the karaoke CD’s and to meet me up there when he was done looking around down there.

THEY HAD SQUAT!!!!!  The only Disney karaoke CD’s they had didn’t even have any Mary Poppins songs on them!  I admit, there was one I’d sorta like to have that has At the Beginning and a couple other songs from Anastasia on it, but other than that, nothing!  And it bothered me.  It still bothers me.

We looked around Jack’s a bit more, me bristling when Rob was jesting about not wanting to see Yellow Submarine because "the Beatles were musicians, they can’t act."  First off, CARTOON MOVIE, second off, OF COURSE THEY COULD ACT!!!!!  They weren’t one trick ponies!  Lol.  He purposely pushes my buttons like that, though.

After Jack’s, I showed him that candy/ice cream place Shannon and Colleen brought me and Mike to the day Nana died.  It was great, we were going around, looking at all the candy and stuff, and we found sour Warheads, but we didn’t pick them up.  Then we went in that Wiccan/New Age store that has those cloaks that I want and we looked at the dragon statues and the necklaces and rings and stones they have there.  Then it was back out to Faith’s Aura so he could pick up that Kurt Cobain picture.  I waited outside though, cuz I couldn’t take the smoke.  I admit, I didn’t expect it, heck, I probably would’ve made him return it if he had done this, but I half-hoped that he would walk out of the store with not only the poster, but the Abbey Road rug.  He didn’t, but that’s okay.

We started talking about places to eat and I was saying we had to go to Cold Stone, he had to try that ice cream.  Cuz, everyone just has to go to Cold Stone at least once.  That place is awesome.  (Hmm . . . that reminds me, I still have the ice cream I got sitting in our freezer.  I should do something about this, shouldn’t I?)  Well, he was saying how he’d want something to eat, too, instead of just ice cream.  So I said if he didn’t mind springing for me, we could go someplace like the Court Jester.  We debated Friendly’s and I left the choice up to him since it was his money.

And we found ourselves at the Court Jester.  Well, actually, we stopped in the Hobby Shop first and he picked up a bunch of sports cards.  (Yeah, his entire family’s into football and whatnot.  I don’t get the attraction, but whatever.  I don’t mind.)  Anyway, we put what he got into the car and went to Court Jester, ate there, (yes, I of course, got the nachos.  "They’re so perky, I love that."  Lol, now who recognizes that line?) and then went over to Cold Stone.  We got our ice cream, came back to the house, and were going to go over the different Disney songs we wanna pull off for the Strawberry Festival.  Cuz I believe the night before, (Beatles song!) we’d watched Mary Poppins, and Rob was saying how we should do the choreography for Supercalifragilistic.  It’ll be fun to manage, I’ll say that much.  At least I can say it "backwards."  I never thought I’d be able to do that!

Anyway, we didn’t get to practice right away, because Mike was down here, so the three of us were talking for a bit, and I showed them this hilarious forward that Dolly sent me.  "The difference between male and female brains."  Lol.  I was leaning on my laptop laughing so hard I could barely breathe!  That’s another thing.  I’ve noticed that my laugh has gone through many stages and actually changed as I’ve gotten older.  A year or two ago, when I would laugh, I didn’t immediately get to the point where I couldn’t breathe, but I do now.

Anyway, we listened to the Disney songs for a bit, sang through the karaoke version of Whole New World, (and you know, honestly I was worried about him singing karaoke style, but he surprised me.  He followed the music pretty well.)  After that, we were just sitting there in the living room, and I really wanted to go take a walk and meander around Sycamore.  So I pulled him outside with me and we walked around Sycamore, slid headfirst down the slide, stuff like that.  Lol, I had to pull him most of the way, but we walked around behind the school, then back down Galewood to my house.  I didn’t really wanna go in when we got to my house but he didn’t wanna sit at the end of the driveway, so I grabbed two chairs.

We talked a bit and I noticed he was shivering.  So I pulled my chair up next to his and put my arms around him and rested my head on his shoulder.  As I was sitting there like that, the urge to just lean over and kiss him was getting stronger and stronger.  But something instinctive told me that that would be his first kiss and I didn’t know if he wanted that to be with me, which is wat kept me from just going for it.  So I said, "Can I admit something to you?"  He said I could and I said that there was something I really wanted to do, but I was afraid to because he’d probably just pull away.  He said that he knew what it was then and I asked, "You do?"

"Yeah.  You want to kiss me."

"Yeah… I do."

"Go ahead, then."

"What?  Seriously?"

"Yeah, why not?  Mike has Shannon now, so he’s not a threat anymore.  So go ahead, if you want."

Yeah, it wasn’t the most enthusiastic response I’ve ever gotten, but hey, whatever.  I surprised him, though.  Because he was expecting me to kiss him on the cheek.  (Lol.  What I don’t think he knows is that I have no problem with kissing a person on the chee

k.  If I’d just wanted to do that, I’d have done it.)

So I kissed him on the lips and then went back to leaning on his shoulder with my arms around him.  A couple minutes go by and I asked what he was thinking.  He says, "I was actually wondering if we could do that again."

My reaction?  "Really?"

"Yeah."

"Okay."  And we kissed again.  And again.  And numerous more times throughout the night.  Hee, hee, hee . . .

It was great, we finally went in cuz I suggested watching a movie, specifically Aladdin, so we could hear the songs.  And we’re sitting there in front of the little TV in the living room with cushions and my huge Harry Potter pillow that I sewed behind us and he looks at me just before the movie starts and says, "You know, this technically isn’t a make out movie."

We just stared at one another for a long moment and then he adds, "It is now!"  And kisses me.

Oh, I was right.  I was his first real kiss.  But he’s a very fast learner.

It was so sweet.  He kept asking why it was so easy to kiss me and saying how he didn’t want to stop.  And he kept saying how soft my lips are and I swear, I was melting into a little pile of Kate-happiness.

When I drove him home, (close to 5 am!  Yikes!) he told me that after I kissed him, he’d been thinking, "Rob, you idiot, why are you passing this up?"

So thus ends this entry and concludes yet another chapter in the saga of me and Rob.  I’ve got more to tell, though, if nothing else than for my own memory.

Damn, I really tested the space capacity with this entry.  This is possibly my longest one yet!

That wasn’t too long… and it was so so cute! You got to do all that fun stuff AND you got the guy in the end. That makes me want to hit the re-wind button on me and Chris and go back to our first stuff. lol

Aww…. Wow… that was really long. I’m sorry, I did skip over some of it. I have a lot to catch up on: Reading, and my own entries.
