Doing Better Now

Oh, I’m still incredibly unsatisfied with my job and seriously wanting to find a new one, but after closing last night, I came home, and then Drew got here, and he went into his room to change, (while grumbling incoherently and sounding all cute in the doing.)  While he was standing in front of his bed, Merry came over and Drew started petting him and picked him up and was cuddling him and all.  It was just so adorable.  It made me smile that he’ll come back and be so gentle and caring with them, even if he’s had a sucky day.  I felt my own bad mood drifting away just being able to watch him.

Then, he was on his laptop for a bit and I went to bed to read for a bit before going to sleep.  (Bought a power strip and my own lamp for the other nightstand so as to not disturb Drew by keeping his light on when he’s trying to sleep.  It works well, so far.  Though if he’s already in there asleep, I won’t go in and turn it on to read, I’ll just read in the living room.)  Anyway, he comes in and I asked if he wanted a back scratch and he did that unintelligible sounds thing again.  I kept saying, "English?" but he’d just repeat the nonsense sounds.  So, I decided to take that for a yes and told him to lay on his tummy.  Lol, I can’t remember exactly what I said, but I’d said he was cute and something else, and he said he wasn’t cute, he was too old to be cute.    You’re never too old to be cute!!!

Anyway, let’s just say there is no better mood lifter than making love.    Yeah, yeah, I know.  TMI.  Oh, well, lol.

Speaking of which, actually, that reminds me.  There’s something I’ve gotta finish by . . .  crap, I don’t have a lot of time!  Oh, well.  I’ll get it done.  I always pull these things off eventually.

Oh, interesting tidbit on a book I’m currently reading.  Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter.  The author has basically taken Abraham Lincoln’s life and fitted vampires into it, explaining that they’re the reason he became president and abolished slavery and such.  I know, it may sound completely dumb through my inadequate description, but it’s actualy a really good read.  It’s by the same author as Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, which I may pick up soon when I’m done reading this.

Also, I picked up a book called Malice, that is exceptionally intriguing.  It’s a young adult novel and in it, there is a rumor of a comic called Malice and a character within called Tall Jake who, if he’s called upon, supposedly has the power to bring you into the comic universe of Malice.  After two friends see a fellow friend featured in an episode of Malice, (and being killed in said episode,) they decide to investigate.  In order to do that, they call upon Tall Jake themselves and find themselves in Malice, trying to escape the different creatures there, how to get back home, and how to defeat the ones creating this world.

I can’t wait for the second one to come out.  Because it turns out that if you find a way to escape Malice and come back to the real world, you have no memories of ever being in Malice; hence how the entire thing is kept such a secret.  These kids don’t know where they disappeared off to.  Anyway, though, of course there’s a sequel, and it deals with what’s called Havoc, a group of kids in Malice who work to wreak havoc in that orld anyway they can.

I love how the book is done, though.  Most of it is in regular novel form, but there’s also a good deal of pages done in comic form, so instead of the action being described to you, it’s drawn out.  It’s a really neat concept for a book.

The second Vampire Diaries book of the new trilogy, (in other words, number six,) is coming out on March 16th.  Yeah, I’m probably gonna get it, just because I wanna see where she takes this whole thing, but really . . .  I don’t know.  She seriously shouldn’t have ressurected those characters.  It’s bad enough she wrote a fourth book after the first trilogy.  Leave it alone, you know?  I mean, it would be a pretty good story if she’d created new characters and wrote it around the new ones, but this . . .  This is just milking old characters for everything they’re worth.  I think it’s because she got the deal for the Vampire Diaries TV show.  The four original books just weren’t enough.  She had to do more, adding things in with the characters to give them more layers that they could exploit in the TV show.

I admit, I only saw the pilot episode, but that was all I could stand.  Seeing more than that . . .  I mean, ugh!  How many different ways can they absolutely kill a good set of books on TV?  Literally, despite the fact that these were written first by at least a good decade, if not a few years more, they made the characters in Vampire Diaries physical knock offs of the characters in Twilight.  Stefan and Damon are supposed to be Italian, and were around during the Italian Renaissance.  Elena is supposed to be a tall, willowy, blue-eyed blond.  Caroline is supposed to be a tanned, bronze beauty type.  Bonnie is a short, excitable, redhead who’s ancestors were Druids, not Salem witches.  And where the Hell is Meredith???  She helped balance out the whole friendship/rivalry with Elena, Bonnie, and Caroline.  And Elena has no brother, especially not one who’s a stoner kid in love with Vicki, who does not become a vampire, by the way.

It’s seriously sad that I’ve only seen one episode and there is so much I can complain about.  And that’s not even all of it.  The town?  Fell’s Church.  Not Mystic Falls.

Okay . . .  Can we say ‘perfectionist?’  Lol.  Think I’m bad with this, you should see me with the movie version of Phantom.  Though I do have an entry about that somewhere.  It’s called "Not Another Chandelier" and I wrote about my different problems with the movie.  I doubt I covered all of them, though.

Since I figure Drew and I are going to be in this apartment at least another year once our time to renew the lease comes up, I decided I was going to do some painting.  I’m so sick of looking at tan walls.  I’m not doing the entire apartment, mind you.  I’m doing two adjaent walls of the kitchen in this light purple, the bathroom is this neat teal blue because of my ocean theme, and I’m gonna do the hallway in this light green.  The living room, my room, and Drew’s room, I’m leaving alone.  However, the bathroom and what I’ve done of the kitchen so far look really good.  Me likie.

If you don’t think of the books while you’re watching it, The Vampire Diaries is actually pretty good. You just have to let go of all thought of the books…. You must get Pride and Prejudice and Zombies! It was an awesome read. As far as Y.A. novels, I’m a huge fan of everything Rachel Caine has written.

RYN. different reasons for different entries the ‘we ‘ thing. for example, if I wrote an entry about the past then the we would have been either me and my family etc, or me and the kids etc, etc. or me and the co workers at that time OR if the we is in the present , it’s just a safety security thing. Most hackers etc, scammers enjoy going after solitary individuals so yes, the ‘we’ makes it seem as if there is more than one, and who knows how many. thanks for asking
