A Long-Expected Party
“I suppose you think that was terribly clever!” Peter boomed to Mr. Maltzman, back at the house.
Mr. Maltzman turned around in surprise. He supposed he should have known that Peter would be waiting for him. “Oh, come now. Did you see their faces?” He shrugged at Peter, continuing. “It was just a bit of fun! Oh, you’re probably right. As usual.”
He went about his business, gathering some papers on his desk, asking, “You will keep an eye on Kate?”
“Two eyes. As often as I can spare them.”
“Good. She’s a curious one, that girl is. I’ve left everything to her.” Mr. Maltzman finished gathering his papers and put them into his satchel.
“What about this baton of yours? Is it staying, too?”
“Yes, yes. It’s over there, on the mantelpiece,” Mr. Maltzman gestured behind him. But then, he straightened. “No… wait. It’s here, in my back pocket.” He pulled it out and looked at it. “Isn’t… isn’t that odd, now?”
“Mr.Maltzman?”
But he continued, as if he’d forgotten Peter was in the room. “Yes… Why shouldn’t I? It’s mine. Why shouldn’t I keep it?”
“I think you should leave the baton to Kate, Mr.Maltzman. Is that so hard?”
“Well, no.” He arched his back over the baton, hissing, “And yes . . . Now it comes to it. I don’t feel like parting with it, it’s mine, it came to me!!”
“There’s no need to get angry.”
“Well, if I’m angry it’s your fault!”
Okay, I think I need to watch the movie again, cuz this conversation is going in circles in my head. Oh, well. Here it is so far. I’ll probably write more on it at some later point. Which scene should I do next?
–Notes–
Thanks for the note…..I really really like your cover page. I LOVE anime and anything Japanse. Or Chinese. Or…well, you get the point. (I have a dragon room). Anyway, I sang “Love Bade Me Welcome” by Ralph Vaughan Williams. It’s a song set to the poem by George Herbert. It’s absolutely beautiful! Thanks for stopping by! You seem awesome. Have a great weekend! [dragonshimmer]
