540 – HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JOHN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nowhere Man
By:
The Beatles

He’s a real nowhere man
Sitting in his nowhere land
Making all his nowhere plans
For nobody
Doesn’t have a point of view
Knows not where he’s going to
Isn’t he a bit like you and me?

Nowhere man, please listen
You don’t know what you’re missing
Nowhere man, the world is at your command

He’s as blind as he can be
Just sees what he wants to see
Nowhere man can you see me at all?

Nowhere man, don’t worry
Take your time, don’t hurry
Leave it all till somebody else
Lends you a hand

Doesn’t have a point of view
Knows not where he’s going to
Isn’t he a bit like you and me?

Nowhere man, please listen
You don’t know what you’re missing
Nowhere man, the world is at your command

He’s a real nowhere man
Sitting in his nowhere land
Making all his nowhere plans
For nobody
Making all his nowhere plans
For nobody
Making all his nowhere plans
For nobody

Today is John Lennon’s birthday!!!  Or would be, if he was still alive…

Anyway, I just felt that this was the best song that I could put for him.  Because he descibed himself as a Nowhere Man, and let’s face it.  Who hasn’t felt that way sometimes?

I think, undoubtedly, John is my favorite of the four.  I believe he’s definitely the most complex.  I mean, “My defenses were so great.  The cocky rock and roll hero was actually a terrified guy who didn;t know how to cry.  Simple.”

It may seem ridiculous, but since I got int the Beatles, I’ve felt like I know them.  It felt odd typing that quote, because . . . it’s like I was divulging a secret that he told only me.  ::Smiles::  And to think.  He’s the one who died a year and a half before I was born.

I know it doesn’t really make sense to feel like I know someone just because I’ve listened to and memorized almost all their songs, and read a lot of books on them, about them, etc.  But I do.

The Beatles spoke to me, (metaphorically, I’m not that crazy!) at a time in my life where I could have gone one of two ways.  The way I have, or the way of a suicidal cutter/drug addict/whatever.  I honestly think that for a bit, I was at that point when I was 13.  I couldn’t deal with what hppened to me, and I came so close to snapping.  Heck, I think I did snap for a little while.  And the one in my wake who saw the most of it . . .  I still hate what I did to him.  But I think he’s since accepted my apology.  What I’m most sorry about is that I do believe he’s a good person, and would be a very good friend to someone.  But I lost my chance at finding that out.

But the Beatl;es have done a lot of good for me, and I’m so glad I got into them.  . . . I guess my quote from my senior prom works well enough for this.  “i just want all of you to know I have the confidence to do this tonight because of the Beatles.  So HA to any one of you who ever made fun of me for liking them!”

That about sums it up.  🙂

.. artists, and to be honest, being touched by the Beatles, I think especially with our generation is something much better than anyone else. Reading this was just so much inspiring to see what kinda of proflific thing they have done to impacted you in your life. 🙂 Neil

Do you ever listen to Beatle Brunch on the radio? That’s where I heard about John Lennon’s birthday. They did a tribute to him and Ringo told them to play When I’m 64 and dedicated it to John. Anyway it’s nice to be back and that you remembered me. I’ll be coming here more often from now on.
