Payback for being a decent bloke.

Well damn.

I was just given a citation for careless driving.

The situation was like this:

I drove to a restaurant to have dinner with a friend and came out to a trio of young people standing behind my car. They informed me that they had called the police after discovering that someone had scraped the bumper of their SUV and claimed that I was the guilty party. I, of course, claimed otherwise, but when the cop arrived 30 minutes later, he issued me a careless driving ticket and stated that he could prove that I had hit their car. He also rebuked me that I had to have felt it as I purportedly scraped against the car and that he had relunctantly decided not to issue a hit and run ticket for the accident.

I stood there amazed, stating my innocence and promising that I’d fight the citation.

My friend who I had had dinner with had left, because he had to flee before physically assaulting these assholes who had just “been given the new car by their parents”. He told me that the cop had to be smoking crack since the evidence, a scrape on my bumper which I feel is lower than the one on their car, is of a different color than the SUV which I supposedly hit.

It pisses me off that I’m “guilty” of this crime without my story carrying any sort of weight. The cop made me feel like a criminal even though I know I didn’t hit the other car.

Gods. I hate the fucking police now. I have a court date on 9/11, let’s hope for the best, eh?

Now to find a lawyer. Damnit.
