who is she?

Who is that woman walking down the street?  The one wearing the headphones and the jacket with rips on the sleeve that is a hand me down from her son.  Yes, the one wearing the worn out pink high tops.  I know, the clothes are not the thing that made you notice her.  It was the tears running down her cheeks.  She’s the one who does her crying on the street in public and behind the bathroom door, in the hospital hallways, where her kids and her parents can’t see her grief.  If you pass that woman on the street, do not feel pity and do not dare to pass judgment but kind thoughts and compassion are always welcome because I bet she needs it.

I missed this entry somehow. With blessings…

Bailey has decided she wants to go to school in Wolfville because all her friends are there. Last year, she switched to Digby because all her friends were THERE. And, at 16, she’s apparently old enough to make these life decisions. It came out of the blue and I’m floored, but she needs to do this right now. I don’t really want to talk right now, but I wanted you to know.

RYN: I’m sure things will work out–we’re looking at options. It’s also a much better school up there–she brought me the course booklet and it offers things unheard of down here, like dance and design and other courses she’s interested in. I told her I don’t object to wanting better, but I objected to the way she went about it. We’ll see how it all goes.
