sadness

What do you say to your 18 yo son when a buddy of his kills himself at 22?  A friend of several years, one in a volunteer program they were both in and a recent graduate of the private college ds is now attending.  Somebody who was friendly and cheerful and helpful goes out in the woods behind his house and hangs himself and isn’t found for 2 days. 

It is raining today and the sky is dark.  Ds went off to school filled with grief after not enough sleep.  There is nothing that will fix this one, my heart aches for my son and for that other boy’s family, yes at 22 he was still a boy, a young man barely stepping into adulthood.  RIP BD.  Thank you OD for being a place I can write and that few of my RL friends know about.

Knitting oh yeah that.  I am knitting slowly but steadily, helps keep my feet on the ground when life doesn’t make a lot of sense.

EDIT:  the school sent him home, told him to take a couple of days off and to write his midterms next week, thank goodness.  It looks like the extra teen is going to have to temporarily drop out of her school program, gets her finances sorted out and reapply for march, sigh:(
