Thanksgiving and Things
(This post contains a lot of pictures.)
Thanksgiving was actually pretty enjoyable this year. We went to my grandparent’s house. They cooked the bird, and my family brought everything else. Grandma is doing rather well. She’s gotten a lot of her hair back. And she’s looking a lot healthier than the last time I saw her. My Grandpa was looking very tired yesterday though. I don’t know if its because he was up early or if it were just the fact that it was an extremely busy day or what, but he looked tired for most of the day.
Joey AND Christopher were both at Thanksgiving! That was probably the best part of the day. I love seeing my brothers. And Joey was not a dick to everybody like he was the last time he was up here.
Yesterday was almost perfect. Poor Sam woke up not feeling 100%. And he just got worse through the day. By the time dinner finished (and he hardly ate anything) his sinuses were so backed up it was giving him a migraine. I set him up on the bed in the far bedroom after dinner and we let him sleep until we were ready to leave. And he slept the whole way home. Poor Sam. I’m going to pick him up some Dayquil or something for him to take on Saturday. We’re having a party on Saturday and I don’t want him to be miserable.
As for me, I’m taking Airborn and every other home defense remedy in an effort to NOT get sick. I woke up a little stuffy this morning, but I refuse! Refuse I tell ya! I won’t be sick!
While we were at Thanksgiving, my Grandma gave me a present. When I was growing up, she had this little elf collection in her big picture window. There were seven of them, and they were given to her by her aunt. They were always my favorite. Last night she gave me the set. I was so ecstatic!
FUCK. I just went to take them out so I could take a picture of them. And the first one I opened out of the tissue paper, I fucking dropped. Because I’m an asshole. Her arm snapped off and there is a chip in her hat. FuckFuckFuckFuckFuck.
Anyway, they are part of collection by Josef Originals. If you click the link there is some background history of the company. Most of the ones that I have are (I believe) from the 1960s era, after they opened the factory in Japan. One might be a reproduction (not by Josef Originals, but made to look like it.) Three I think are from before they opened the Japan factory.
These are all assumptions. I can’t say for sure because I am not an antiques dealer. I don’t know exactly what to look for. But this is just what I feel about them.
Okay, so they’re a little creepy, too.
This is all of them. Just a little group shot, there. The one on the far left is the one I dropped. It looks pissy that I dropped it.
These are the ones I think were from before they opened the factory in Japan.
The red one still has most of its sticker. So I think that one is definitely legit.
This one I think is a reproduction, because…. Just look at its face. It looks too Asian fit in with the rest of the pixies.
This one still looks pissy that I broke its arm. The box that she’s sitting on is also pretty old. It was a gift to my grandfather’s mother (my Great Grandma Tot) from a friend who visited Wembley in 1924. I put her arm and her chips in the box. I’m hoping to repair her later tonight.
In other exciting news and things, my blanket came out unscathed from the washer AND the dryer. And I took pictures.
That’s the front. I turned the corner down so you could see my corner tassels.
And the back:
Meg still can’t believe I’m giving this away. Actually, I can’t believe I’m giving it away, either. But I know its going to be well taken care of. (Now that I know that it can stand up to being put through the wash.) Christopher is really going to like it.
And now that I’ve spammed everyone with copious amounts of pictures, I’m going to go clean my house for the next hour before I have to go to work.
ALW
I can’t believe you are giving this awayyyyy. You need to make another. AND KEEP IT. Love,
