Good Days

I’m pleased to say that the last two days were incredibly good days. I wasn’t upset, I wasn’t mopey. I don’t know where it came from, but I’m taking it at face value and enjoying it while it is here. And I got so much done while I was in a good mood. I cleaned everything. Well. Almost everything. This house is in desperate need of a deep clean. Its well on its way.

I got the bathroom scrubbed: tub, floor, cat box, walls, sink, toilet. Entire bathroom: Check.

I cleaned most of the kitchen: All counters wiped down, stove cleaned, dishes done, floor scrubbed, cabinets wiped down, windows washed, microwave cleaned. The only thing left is cleaning out the fridge of abandoned food and cleaning the shelves in there because of sticky reasons.

I vacuumed the Blue Room. (Sitting room?) And I folded laundry. Now there is more laundry to fold. And I have to clean and vacuum the living room, and get the spare bedroom back in order.

I don’t even want to clean that room because it was left a disgusting mess. Food pieces everywhere. Food wrappers and sticky stuff all over the floor. And the entire room smells like stale sweat and piss. I don’t even. Ugh. I don’t want to be in there to clean it. But it has to be cleaned. Because I don’t want mice or bugs or that smell.

Tonight is Knit Night at my place. Which is half of the reason why I’ve gone Clean Crazy. I’ve got to get my pork in the crock pot soon, then I’m going to finish cleaning the house. I’ve decided I’m making crock pot pork, sauteed zucchini (from the garden) and stuffing. With gravy. Because yes to all of these things. And I took out that pumpkin cheesecake from the freezer. So I’m pretty stoked for Knit Night.

I plan on knitting tonight, too. Probably going to finish braiding the goatee on the latest Battle Bonnet. Its the last thing I have to do, and tonight should be a good night for it.

That’s summer squash on the left, zucchini on the right, a Brandy Boy tomato plan in the center front. We have corn in the back, with pole bean growing up the corn stalks. (Don’t ask us how we’re going to get to the corn.)

Here are the cucumbers that have taken over EVERYTHING in the other garden. That little cage on the left there? That used to have a purple pepper plant growing in it. Until the cucumbers decided that, "Oh hey, guys! I want to be everywhere all at once. Hope that’s cool with all you other vegetables!"

But at least we’re getting a LOT of cucumbers out of the deal. So I guess I can’t complain too much. Cucumber sandwiches are going to be extremely popular for me this summer. I also want to try and make pickles this year. I think we will have enough cucumbers to try for pickles and still have enough left over to give away to family and friends. (I hope Tina, Meg and Jess like cucumbers, because I’m sending about half home with them tonight!)

Our Volunteer Basil plant! This is by far the biggest, happiest, and healthiest looking basil that we have growing in our garden this year. And it came up all by itself! And before you ask: No. We didn’t cage the basil. It came up next to a cubanelle pepper that just didn’t do well this year. Sam is in there weeding the green beans!

Just another shot of our giant Zucchini plant! You can’t see it, but there is a zucchini under there that is about the size of a small baseball bat. And that is going to be cooked tonight.

Last picture: Last night’s dinner. I sauteed some summer squash (from the garden) green beans (from the garden) tomatoes, garlic, and basil (from the garden) and served it over some pasta drizzled with olive oil. And Sam and I shared a whole bowl of cucumber slices on the side. It was very yummy!
