Frogs Legs and Other Delicacies

Sam and I were invited to the Annual Game Dinner at the Grand Oak Villa tonight. Sam’s cousin, Tommy, had two extra tickets and asked us if we wanted to go. Of course we said yes. They had all sorts of things there, and they were (for the most part) all delicious.

We started off with Buffalo Barley Soup and Venison Chili. The soup was yummy, but I really liked the chili. After that we had Quail in this delicious balsamic reduction. Followed by Venison Lasagna (wasn’t thrilled with this, because it was just meat with lasagna noodles. And I think it could have been made better if they just had spaghetti and venison meatballs. If you aren’t putting cheese in there, then it isn’t a lasagna.)

After the lasagna came the Frogs Legs. I was really looking forward to actually eating frogs legs for the first time. I love trying new things. And everyone at the table raved about them. However, after I tried them (and I DID try them) I wasn’t thrilled. They had a texture like chicken, but they tasted like fish. It was really weird. But now I can honestly say that I’ve tried it, and no. I do not like it.

Venison Bratwurst was in there somewhere, and THAT was delicious. So was the Venison Sausage and Peppers. But the best part out of everything IMO, was the Buffalo Roast served with Cajun roasted potatoes. That buffalo was cooked to perfection. You could cut it with a butter knife. Well. You kind of HAD to cut it with a butter knife, because that was all they gave you. But it was so tender. And it was rare. Blood red in the middle- no other way to serve a roast.

I want to go to the Game Dinner every year. Because of all those reasons.

I even snagged some of the buffalo roast, venison sausage and peppers, and a quail all to take home. Sam and I  are going to have a good lunch tomorrow, I can tell you that much.

Speaking of Sam, I got him to join the gym today! We went to the one by our house this morning at about 8.30am and stayed there until about 11am. We got a HUGE workout in. Plus, with the PF Black Membership, I get to use all this gym’s extra facilities. This PF has a hydro massage thingy? I don’t know what it is, but MY PF doesn’t have one, and I kinda want to use it. The one by my house has so many extra and new things. They have stair climbers! I tried it for a few minutes right before we had to go, and I tell you what. Even just a few minutes on that thing and I could tell that thing works you good. I get to go to that PF 10 times a month. I should make a schedule of dates that I can go there with Sam. And make another schedule for when I go to my regular PF with Jess.

Between the two of them, I’m looking at going to the gym four to six times a week. I’d better start losing some freaking weight. Thus far, nadda. That’s going to change.

Short entry, but that’s okay.

I give you credit! I don’t think I could eat frog legs. The shape alone would freak me out. Love,

I would never try most of that food. I am way too fussy about what I eat.
