I was only 10 when it happened. To be frank, I can only remember bits & pieces of the whole event. Maybe I will never be able to understand the kind of pain. To many others out there, this is just one of the many events in the history. *pat pat*

The Dafur genecide and Tiananmen happen on quite different scales. (btw, it drives me crazy to hear westerners pronounce Tianamen as “Ti-an-a-men” rather than “Tian-An-Men”.) I have a feeling that 6/4 created an echo among intellectuals because people identify with them – the protesters were students and they fighting *for* something. The sudanese were just there being slaughtered for no reason.

I think a slightly more similar situation is if the Russians cracked down the Orange Revolution in Ukraine militarily or the Syrians cracked down the Cedar Revolution in Lebanon militarily. But I guess both governments had learned from the Chinese… That said, I am pissed that the Party still doesn’t face up to what it did.

re: oh dear 🙁 but in HKU Creative Writing is super popular… it was extra hard and extra competitive to get into the Creative Writing class because they do not admit students on first-come-first-serve basis.

June 8, 2006

do you think it works if you’re just inviting students to construct their stories — not “writing” in the first step — and when they really have something in mind they might automatically want to put their ideas and plots in words? and they might automatically want to “write”?

June 8, 2006

re: hmmm…do you think it might do if you approach a few students individually, meet up in a gathering and discuss creative writing? or say, you begin a story, and ask them to continue with it? when i was in secondary school i used to circulate a booklet with a few friends, one starts writing a story, stops somewhere, passes it to another to continue… it was real fun.

i was Primary 3 back then…i knew the govt officials were very evil, i knew many students were killed, i knew they fought for democracy, but i didn’t know “why” and i didn’t understand why it was that terrible when the govt killed ppl like this…from the reaction of my teachers, i just knew it should be sth horrible and unforgivable…but now, i can’t really feel the pain though i

…totally understand what happened…it doesn’t mean i’m cold-blooded, but it was too distant, in terms of timing and geographical location…shame on that govt though… i was in the 10th anniversary “ceremony” with my friends 7 years ago and my mom was shocked and still talked about it from time to time -_____-” sheep

how come some of your entries are in english and some are not?
