A writer’s dream? 11.30
So far I’ve been at this little game for 4 hours and 15 minutes. At the end of the last hour I leapt up and down saying “Oh, hungry, hungry” and my lovely little husband smiled and said – “does that mean its time to get you breakfast?”
So here I am, resupplied with orange juice (which I did get myself) and I hear croissants are on their way with milk for the cereals, bread rolls with my favourite fillings and a little cuddle from time to time to check how the writing machine is going.
Did I mention how fast 30 minutes goes by? Its incredible that I have now nearly been doing this for four-and-a-half hours. I’m having great fun – even if my heart rate is sometimes a little high and S knows he can’t talk to me … much. He’s probably having a great day of peace after I banged on for ever about my characters last night.
I read in a lovely article by Lorelle on WordPress (http://lorelle.wordpress.com/2006/08/03/how-not-to-blog-in-a-blogathon-blog/) about how not to blog in a blogathon. She gave lots of great advice about making every entry count and not telling people about your bodily functions or what you’re eating.
So far then, within four-and-a-half hours, I have broken all of these rules and I have only written one short entry from the story I really want to tell.
At the same time, she also said not to put time notices on your entries and this is the very thing that seemed to make sense, but actually got me thrown off of the blogathon, meaning that I lost time getting reinstated and now I have entries that ‘don’t really count’.
I also read, but I have no idea where (I think it was Lorelle again), that most of us write because for whatever reason, we dream of being published. It is true. I have no idea why I would like to be published other than perhaps that would be a sign of success? That it would mean I am able to write well? That I can entertain people with a web of words?
The point is, made by the lovely Lorelle if indeed Lorelle it was, that anything we publish on the net is already just that word “published”. Anything we write for our employer for their website is “published”, anything we write in our blog is “published”.
So, broken the rules or not, told the story or not, today, every thirty minutes, I am “publishing” something that you may, or may not read, as you choose. Worthy or not, today, I am a published writer. And you know what? That seems mighty fine to me.
I am laughing to myself about you consulting that blog-a-thon “how to” article to find out you are “breaking rules” That would be me too. I like how this whole diary is, though.

Ahhh..the power of suggestion: I had to get myself a little “something” to eat too, now, upon reading this. I wish a croissant was on my way, too 🙂
