30 minutes 14.00

30 minutes to …. do what ?

If you were my dog, you would say, waggle your legs in the air in time to your favourite dream and snore between the entries your mistress is frantically beating out on her old laptop.

If you were my husband, you tell me to play against some weird monster on the internet, to see how much money you can earn, how much territory you can gain and if you can just stay alive that long.

But out there, somewhere out there, this is what 30 minutes can mean:

Every 30 minutes somewhere in the world, 30 babies are born.

Every 5 minutes someone in Dafur dies of starvation or disease or is murdered. That’s six people in the time it takes me to put up an entry.

Every 12 minutes someone in the US dies in a crash. That’s two people in the space of an entry.

Every 45 seconds someone in the US has a stroke and every 3 minutes someone in the US dies of stroke.  That’s 10 people in the time that it took me to put up my last entry who died of stroke. (thrombosis).
Did you know that thrombosis can be caused by Attrial Fibrillation? Did you know that AF is just an irregular heart beat that can be controlled by drugs? Did you know?

Take care of your hearts. Please. You don’t have to sponser me, but think about your hearts, your famillies hearts, your loved ones.

Eat well, live well, love well. Tell those you love them that you do.  Don’t wait for tomorrow… you don’t know what the next 30 minutes could bring.

NB – sorry, US figures were easier to find that world or UK. Sorry.
J On a lighter note, the next 30 minutes will bring a new chapter! Hurrah!! J
