Woohoo!! Days off!!

FINALLY!  After what feels like forever I actually have a few days off!  Yay!  8 shifts in a row, all done!  Hehe, I’m so proud of myself!  Looking forward to next week’s pay cheque that’s for sure!!

I caught my bus home and I’ve realised getting off at Roma street is actually a lot more convienient for me to get home than the city is.  Well, actually they are probably about the same, but by getting off at Roma street, there are slightly less stairs to climb.  Oh I dunno.  Anyway, I went to this cafe I hadn’t been to before for breakfast, as it was either that or McDonalds, and the last time I had a McDonalds breakfast it was so pathetically small I could’ve ordered 3 and it still wouldn’t have filled me up.  And that’s the MEAL deal too!

Anyway, they had newspapers there for patrons convience, so I picked one up, as I had seen it come in at work, but natually I can’t read at work other than glance at the front page.  It was about Schoolies mainly.  I can’t believe it’s the time of year again already.

Anyway, a few pages in I read an article saying that Queensland university applications are up 18% on last year.  Acccording to QTAC figures, this year it is currently over 52,000!  That’s not good!!  The more applicants there are, the less places there are!! 🙁  I’d probably feel better if I hadn’t read that this morning.

December 17th is when the offers for my first preferences come through, and then again in early January I believe.  I don’t know how they work it or who gets preference over whom, but my mate (who is in uni) is adamant that I’ll get in because I’m a mature-aged student rather than a year 12’er.  The article also started that a lot less people are deferring uni this year as well.  I’m getting the feeling that the GFC might have something to do with scaring a lot more people into updating their skills?

Anyway, I guess I just gotta stay positive I’ll be offered a place, all I can do really.  I’m waiting for the Vietnamese place up the road to open for lunch – their meals are sooooo yummy.

YAY DAYS OFF!!  WOOOOOOO!!!

Don’t worry about university placements. I think you’ll be fine to get in. 🙂 Like your mate said, you’re a mature age student, and “less likely” to drop out! hehe
