The Bad Old Days
Someone posted this on the SameSame website this week, and it caught my attention. It absolutely fascinated me. To think this was filmed in the 1960’s! Watching it, I even agreed with some parts of their crazy ideas on homosexuality. Other parts I couldn’t believe, internally, how crazy what they were saying really was.
Living in this day and age, and with the 31st annual Mardi Gras coming up this year next month, I am so glad that I live in today’s society rather than how it was 50 years ago. I don’t think parents of GLBTIQ children could adapt fully into how much more accepting it’s become since when they were children. I know a lot have, and it amazes me that people can have their own non-judgemental opinion and actually accept people for whom they are. I have so, so much respect for that, because growing up in the country, in a highly religious upbringing, it wasn’t easy when I was having all these homosexual thoughts! I remember when I was little, how hard it was to find information on the subject, even online when we first got dial-up internet. It was so hard to find other gay websites. Even TV shows! Now they are everywhere.
This documentary I saw just amazed me. And I figure I really need to put it in my blog, moreso for future reference than anything!

The nice thing is that, as a whole, society has evolved to the point of being accepting of different lifestyles and cultures. It is funny how archaic some of the ideas can be when you look back on them. Even moreso is how some people still–STILL hold onto those ideas as fact. It’s nice to know that we’re progressing to a point where our differences become less and less relevant.
