Live Space Jump! – edit

Nothing that exciting happening really.  Just fighting through these lame work shifts.  Offered to do another Sunday so was there for 5 hours.  5 hour shifts don’t add up to much other than taking away my freedom of a full day off lol.  Ah well, I’m complaining but learning to live with it.  I started 10 weeks ago and haven’t had more than one day off consecutively.

I have my passport now.  Finally.  I just can’t really do much with it at the moment lol.  I’m just gunna have to refuse to work a Wednesday shift if I’m gunna be able to go anywhere.  I’m thinking my first country would have to be somewhere close.  Reading the travel-tips guide is scary with the whole ‘If you can’t afford travel insurance, you can’t afford to travel’ quotes scaring me off even wanting to leave the country, even for a few days.  To me, it seems like I’ve been living in an enclosed box and an entire Narnia is out there.  My parents have never left Australia because dad’s reasoning always was, "I haven’t even seen all of my own country yet".  Oh my parents have some strange thoughts sometimes.

I was just looking at my parents facebook pages and there’s a pic of dad lifting up this huge snake with a hoe lol.  I’m assuming the snake is dead, as I doubt he’d be lifting it alive!  All my mum seems to be interested in is my newest nephew – my little brother’s kid that is.

I did my latest music chart.  It still keeps me somewhat entertained, amazingly and surprisingly.

I caught up with cX before work today, as I hadn’t seen him in a while.  I was shocked that the Shingle Inn serves coffee in bowls as an option.  That’s a LOT of coffee.  I just opted for a mug of mocha.  He told me he still hasn’t gone through those photos from the shoot I did in May LOL.  I asked him if any of them had turned out and he said the one where I was shaking water off my head looked pretty cool.  Omg I can’t wait to see them, as old as the photos would be now!

Working, again, tonight, but have the whole day off before doing so, so going to hit the gym.  Of course, the city gym is going to be delayed in opening by the looks of it, so I’ll still be at Milton for a little while.  I wore one of my decent, tighter singlets to gym last time and was amazed at how good I felt during the workout.  There has generally been a good-looking guy most times I’ve been over the past two weeks or so.  I’ve definitely been more happy with myself the last couple of weeks, so maybe that whole law-of-attraction thing ain’t so bad.

I haven’t got much else to say.  I noticed OD was down a while ago, and was cynical about it not returning, like I am every time it goes down 🙁  My OD Plus expired.  I miss my chapters, but meh I don’t think it’s worth replacing when this has been so unstable lately.

I’m watching the space jump live on youtube at the moment.  This link will only make sense and work if you’re reading this at the moment haha.  I think it comes up blank cos it’s live, but the link is here.

I’m actually pretty glad to be awake watching this.  I feel like it’s a part of history in my lifetime, and I hope all goes well.
I am learning SO much from the narration alone!  The blue hue and the curvature of the Earth after about 80,000 feet is incredible – he’s almost at the 120,000 feet level as I type this.

Edit:  That was unreal.  Watching him freefall and spin, I wasn’t sure if he was still conscious!!  Absolutely amazing, technology these days and the confidence that guy had to just jump from 128,000 feet.  FUCKING UNREAL!!!  I am so tired now, but I HAD to watch that, seriously.  I don’t think I’ve seen anything THAT cool in a LONG time.

I’d be lost without my passport – I’m so glad you got one! Being in Brisbane, you’re much closer to things than the rest of us as well (or at least, for us Melbournians). You should hit up Asia! Look at Air Asia, Tiger, Jet Star and Scoot regularly – you can get some amazingly cheap deals!

Watching as well!

I was amazed at how quickly he got to Earth… and he landed spot on ON HIS FEET, didn’t even stumble. That’s a pro right there. I would really only consider travel insurance to certain countries. Ones Aussies go to a lot, like the States or NZ you probably wouldn’t need it… Or a British Territory, for that matter. Just make sure you know the Visa rules and such.

Crap, I forgot that was happening last night! I stayed up super late being angry and drunk and missed it haha

I can think of a few people I would like to throw from that height.

I watched that live and I was driven to tears. So friggin’ amazing and scary at the same time. His poor mother!!

Hey I didn’t know the Shingle Inn had bowls of coffee…WOOP! Don’t be fazed by the whole travel insurance warning. Nothing usually happens, but I’d rather have insurance than not have it. For my last trip (two weeks in Asia) it cost me about $100 to insure and I did that through AAMI. Quick and easy.

Watched that last night as well. Totally awesome!

For a second I thought you were talking about the shuttle they’ve been parading around the West Coast… but I guess that’s only Stateside excitement.
