Halloween storm! 0_0

I’ve finished work and have gotten home to turn the TV on to the 24-hr news channel. I wanted some info on this Hurricane Sandy over in the USA. Yikes, what a place for a hurricane to form! Near New York! I hope anyone who is near that area who might actually read my diary takes care and stays safe! I’ve seen a few satellite pictures of the storm and they are saying it’s 500 miles across!

The news guy is in disbelief cos he reckons Washington DC is like a ghost city lol – Ummm, isn’t that city massive? How is that possible? The New York stock exchange is closed for the first time in 11 years. Goes to show we can’t fuck with mother nature 🙂

It reminds me of Cyclone Yasi that hit here in my state in Australia. Luckily I wasn’t affected as I am toward the south of the state. Here is a comparison satellite picture of the cyclone that put banana’s out of supermarkets for almost two years lol.

Either way, Sandy looks like a meanie! Stay safe USA’ers!

Sandy is starting to affect the weather here. So far, I can tell you that we’ve had thunderstorms that were worse than this. We’ve been getting rain, off and on, since about midnight. The winds are picking up and they’re saying that we won’t be getting the worst of it until this evening. Dunno about other nearby places, but it just feels like people are making a big ado about nothing.

Thanks! Thus far where I am it’s just been cold and drizzly, but I’m pretty far inland, and south of the trajectory–which is unusual, since I used to live in hurricane central, and folks north of me would almost never get hit. My partner’s family is in NY, though, so we’re hoping for the best! Thanks again!

Found you on the front page, I’m in NY but about 6 hrs from the coast. Just lots of rain here at this point and probably wind and more rain for us tonight. Hoping for a day off work tomorrow though 🙂

I’m in New York. It’s bad. The storm is actually over 1000 miles across.

It’s insanity. My sister in Boston is losing power on and off, trees are down, rivers are flooding. NYC is fucked. New Jersey is getting a long needed bath (but it sucks). Here in Las Vegas though, warm and sunny!

I saw an infographic last night that had super-imposed Sandy over Australia… It’s about half the size of our country. :/ I have so many friends along the east coast, I’m pretty worried.
