Freak storm
I’m sitting at the state library, leeching their internet lol. We’re at 80% at home with a week to go, and i really wanna catch up on some of my favourite shows, so after work I drove home, grabbed my things and walked here. It was still dark. Sun’s just come up now. There’s heaps of cleaners and leaf blowers out, as there usually is I’ve noticed on a Monday morning, preparing for the week ahead I guess. I was gunna go to gym but have decided to go tomorrow, as after tonight’s shift, I have 3 nights off 🙂 Woohoo! I was considering going to the coast, but I’ve done that so much lately I kinda wanna give it a rest, but I’ll probably end up there anyway haha. I dunno, I’ve been to the Gold Coast lots, but haven’t really made it into the surf. Maybe it’ll be too cold, maybe it’ll be a great day like it was on Saturday. I don’t think I’ve seen a nicer day in ages than it was on Saturday.
So I dunno if I wrote this or not, but we had a massive quick storm come through at about 11pm Friday night. I was at work. It only lasted 15 or so minutes, but it was enough to flood the store. The rain was so heavy and falling sideways, I couldn’t see a thing. It also hailed quite heavily! I’m glad I didn’t drive that day because my car would have massive dents throughout it if I had. The water just flowed in under the door and flooded the last 4 aisles of the store. I spent about 2 hours sweeping water back out the door. Mopping did very little to do anything until I got rid of the actual lake lol. I’d never seen anything like it. There were about 5 people all inside the store, waiting for it to subside, and people were running in. I had the door locked because the wind was causing the flaps on the outside bins to go wild, setting off the door sensor, and therefore just letting more water bucket in. I had every wet floor sign I could find and customers were wading through water. The storm passed through and a couple of customers who must’ve been driving from outside the storm asked what the heck had happened when they walked in and saw me with the broom, as through there had been a burst water-main or something. I was bewildered that they had no idea of the storm. It must’ve been very centralised to Brissy. The street next door had cars half under water, but that street always floods whenever there is very heavy rain, so it didn’t take long. I’d just never seen anything like it since I started there. Anyway after about 2 hours or so, I managed to get it all out and the remainder mopped up, and the store looked pretty good. Most people didn’t even realise how bad it had been just a few hours earlier.
My weekend shift went pretty well this weekend, not too many drunk people at all, and those that were seemed pretty friendly, so all good. One more shift to go tonight, then I can go party. Gotta do next weekend again too cos the other nightshifter is going away somewhere, apparently. I’m a bit bummed because I really wanted to go to a Eurovision party at a mate’s house, and I’m not gunna be able to attend. As per usual, I have to let my mates down 🙁 Shittiest thing about working this job, social life pretty much does out the window. Well the nightlife social life anyway! Not like I can do anything about it, so I’ll just smile 🙂
We had a serve storm here too. It lasted a few days though.

Well in my defence most of them are about as interesting as plants. I’m gonna try and move to one of the aus offices in a couple of years when my contract’s up i think.

That happened while I was living in Chicago once. It was a massive rainstorm–the kind where, you just trudge through it with wet clothes and don’t bother trying to stay dry because it’s impossible. Literally, at the train station, there was 6″ of water everywhere…it ran down the steps and everything. It was so crazy!
