Double feature
I think maybe I’m getting too old for this.
I went and saw a movie with a guy who asked me on my facebook. Well, I met him once out clubbing, but we didn’t say much above the loud music, but he seemed friendly enough, so when he asked me to a movie, I agreed to go along.
I never know if that constitutes as a dating situation. To me, it isn’t. It’s just me going to meet someone, and let’s face it – that;s bloody rare in my life.
We organised to meet there at 6:30pm. I was running about 5 minutes late as I walked there, but turns out he was late also. He walked in after about another 3 minutes or so. I recognised him right away, with his prominent afro hairstyle. I gave him a hug.
It seemed a little awkward, as I guess it is with anyone knew you ‘meet’. So we bought tickets. We actually decided to see two movies in a row, as when the first one ended, the second one was about to begin.
The first movie we saw was "Rush". I will say, the ONLY redeeming thing about that film was Chris Hemsworth’s acting ability. Fuck, I was soooo bored until at least halfway through the movie when one of the characters got his face half ripped off in a firey inferno. As far as I’m concerned, they should have just started the movie there.
I think the guy I was with saw me as quite the cynic lol. The movies were his choices, and I didn’t know much about either. He told me that if I thought the movie was bad, that he’d owe me a favour. Beats me what that means.
When that movie was over, we left to use the restrooms and we grabbed more food. I grabbed hot food this time. I was actually impressed that I could grab chicken and chips for $7:50, cooked for me. It’d cost me just as much to buy that frozen to cook at home! So I was happy, and it was yummy and somewhat more nutritious than the chips I’d had earlier. Because of my dental treatment, I avoided the popcorn, but the chips were probably only a slightly better option, and of course I ate on the opposite side of my mouth.
The second movie was "The Family". Some mafia movie. I didn’t like the sound of that either, but turns out, I ended up LOVING it. It just shat all over the first movie anyway haha, plus I’m a Michelle Pfeiffer fan, and she did a great job. Plus it was funny too. Thank God for that. Plus I believe me and the guy I was seeing the movie with had both lightened up a little I think and were more comfortable around each other, sharing our M&M’s as he had raspberry and I had orange. I know, junk food, but there really isn’t much else option in a cinema, although this time around I had that chicken, plus an orange juice.
After the movie, we both walked back to the city. He veered off on one street, and me another. I told him we’ll catch up again soon. Hooking up just didn’t seem that big of a deal to me. There was no major spark there between either of us, even if it was or wasn’t a date. He has a lovely smile and is quite an attractive guy. Whether hooking up was even an option, I really dunno.
Earlier that afternoon, I rang up the sexual health clinic to get my test results. Always so nervous doing that, but even with that, because I’ve done it so many times before, it didn’t even bother me. I’d previously thought to myself that if I had anything major, they would have contacted me, so I wasn’t too concerned. I didn’t need to be. This time around, I came back completely clean of everything. I think I breathed a sigh of relief and cheered to myself. I now know I don’t have skin cancer, and I am free of STI’s! I now just have to get whatever else is wrong with my teeth fixed up, and I should be on my merrily little way again haha.
So you would THINK with the news of today, and hanging out with a relatively cute guy, that hooking up could be an option, but I don’t know what that guy wanted, and it was just nice to hang out with somebody new. i didn’t exactly want to jump all over him, and it would’ve just been sex. I don’t need to jump right back into that straight away.
…Until I’m sure an entry sometime soon 😛
you’re a good guy 🙂

I know what you mean, I had a similar situation recently.

That’s so going to be me soon. I will have no idea what anything means and if I’ll be hooking up or hanging with friends, lol. I’m glad you liked the second movie. I will have to check it out. The last thing I remember seeing Michelle Pfeiffer in was Dangerous Minds. Yeah… that long ago.
