BQFF
Okay, a couple of things have me excited at the moment, and both of them stamp in tattooed ink the gay stereotype in me lol. The first one is obviously EUROVISION. I am a massive fan of the whole show from the semis to the final to even how they calculate who wins. It’s exciting for me to sit there and watch it and pick my favourites, who never seem to be the actual winner. I’ve heard quite a few of the entries already vowing to get into the finals from when I was in Matt’s car driving down to Wet and Wild and back last week. He’s a huge Sweden fan so his music is very from around that area. The Melodifeten (prob spelt wrong) is Sweden’s competition and the winner of that gets to go into Eurovision. The song that won it is ‘Popular’ by Eric Saade, who is this STUNNING twink who can actually sing. So that will be Sweden’s entry and is my tip to win it, although to be fair I haven’t heard a lot of the other songs. Usually I like to leave it a surprise to even what the song is going to be until the actual event, but stuff that 🙂 I’ve only heard a few of the songs trying out for the finals, and I love that one and also another one called, "Running Scared" – It’s stuck in my head! So if those two songs make it into the finals (and if they don’t there is seriously something wrong), they are currently my picks for one and two. Anyone who’s seen my music charts I post on here knows that they are gayer than Bob Downe in a Hairspray production, and these two songs are no different =)
The other thing that I’m excited about is the Brisbane Queer Film Festival (BQFF) which I’ve gone to I think the last three years now. I’ve been going through my little booklet I’ve gotten in the mail trying to pick out which films I want to see. There are five I’ve narrowed it down to, but I wanna make it six because that way I’ll save by buying bundled tickets. These are the films I’ve chosen:
- The Adonis Factor
- House Of Boys
- Amphetamine
- LA Mission
- Loose Cannons
- Boys International Shorts
They will be the six I’ll likely be seeing =) I kinda of can’t WAIT!! EEEE. Only annoying thing is some start at 7pm. The 7pm ones I could do if I wore my work uniform there lol (and look like an idiot) – the 9pm one’s I’d have to get off. Shit and I just realised it’s only a week away already!
You definitely have to write about going. I’ve never been to a gay film festival, but have always wanted to go to one. Those film trailers have me intrigued! I so want to go now!

House of Boys looks really good. The message behind Adonis I disagree with, which is another ‘why am I gay?’ thing… I hate how our society focuses on appearance more than anything else, it’s why so many of us are miserable… I still want to see it though, as it looks like it has both sides of the story.

I’d like to hear what you think of those movies. Wil
