Attractions Presenter
Back to work last night. The shift went really fast because it was rather busy, so all good. No drunk people either, thank God, just a few stoners in to grab their tally-ho’s. Saw my roster for next week and I’m doing Fri, Sat, Sun, Mon, Tues, Weds, and I noticed they rostered me on Sunday the 13th. I leave for Sydney on the 12th. SO not happy. I’m not going to work. I applied for holidays well over a month ago for that week off from the 12th to the 19th, and they roster me on the 13th? Who knows if I’m rostered on what days after that because the roster is only ever out weekly. Not impressed. I’ve written a note to my manager saying I’m not working it. Who cares if she doesn’t like it. I think they should at least get their act together when it comes to annual leave because no-one ever finds out if they’ve been approved or even if they haven’t been approved. Well I’m telling her now so she’s a got a whole week to find someone to replace me for four measley shifts.
I heard my other phone ring yesterday, and I rolled over to see the number, but it rang whilst I was asleep, so I didn’t really take much notice of it. I let it ring out because I automatically assumed it would be work, but then it beeped twice telling me whoever had rang left me a message. I think I checked the message when I woke up. Boy am I annoyed I didn’t answer the phone! It was a lady ringing from Warner Villiage theme parks, asking if I’d be interested in applying for a position as an ‘Attractions presenter.’ I have no idea what that is, other than the obvious name of it, but it would be something at Movie World. She left a contact number for me to call them back on, but by the time I woke up in time for work, she would’ve gone home. i wrote it down anyway. I’m intrugued as to what the actual position involves. Would it be using a microphone and having to stand it front of a whole heap of strangers and tell them about an exhibition? At Movie World that seems strange as they only really have rides and shows there. Hmmm. I dunno if it’d be my type of job to apply for, but I at least wanna know what it involves, so I’ll try ringing her, although I doubt she’ll be there on a Saturday. Kinda cool they considered me for the role though, as I applied for them well over a year ago I’m pretty sure lol. I’m always free during the day so I could go in for an interview if it sounded like I could do it. Seems to me to involve public speaking. I’m fine with that with my own customers, but a group? God I freaked out just speaking in front of my own class in high school 🙂 Come a long way since then I guess.
Also still keen on doing this maths b bridging course, just been reading a few testimonies on it, such as ‘i wish they taught it like this in high school’. Me and my high school maths b teacher really disliked each other, but that really shouldn’t be an excuse as to why i failed it. Maybe a move to the Gold Coast could be on the cards if I end up both working and studying there, but still too early to tell.
RYN: Sure ya do. 😉 Just travel about 1000 miles. lol

Never heard of Movie World, but if it’s anything like Disneyworld or Universal Studioes, run! You want to spend your days dressed like a cartoon character or a box of popcorn?! Naah, I say give her a call. If it turns out to be shat, just chock it up as another practice interview. 🙂

Sounds like a bizarre job.

I would say that it’s worth going for the interview–I mean, they’re required to tell you what the job entails and if it sounds like something interesting, then go for it. If you’ll be dressing up as something, then, I’m sorry, you can do better than that. But if it’s just as a presenter of something, you could do far worse. I say go for it, what have you got to lose?
