Singer Castle
First off, yes there are pictures, but I haven’t yet taken the time to do much more than try to keep them backed up. I will have to see if I can get them going at some point…
So today…
We checked out of the interesting Motel around 8, and headed to Beefers. I looked them up beforehand to make sure they were open and interestingly enough they have webcams… Crazy… Breakfast there was.. ok… Buffet. But nothing super special by any means.
Then we headed back into Alex bay but were a good bit early for the cruise, so we looked at the shops but they were’t open yet, but we did manage to find the park/island which we saw from the river the day before and had some fun there.
Then we headed back and took our cruise to Singer Castle. Nice little time there. It was about an hour cruise each way up North to the castle, and then the tour was about an hour of the castle. Different than Boldt. Boldt is a bit more impressive from the outside(it looks more "castle-y") and inside for that matter, but a lot of Boldt is pretty raw at this point completely bare. But Singer has a lot more natural light inside. It is not your typical dark and dreary castle inside. It also has many secret passageways and what not. Though we were kinda bummed we didn’t actually get to go through any of them. Apparently it was inspired by the book Woodstock, but in this case, the passageways actually served the purpose of staff hallways so that guests wouldn’t see the 40 staff members waiting on everyone.
Then after that we came back and did some more browsing of the local shops, and went looking for lunch.
We had in mind one place on the main drag in Alex Bay but then realized they were only open until 2 and it was 2:30. So we headed south towards our Pulaski destination along the seaway trail. Not a lot of real great stuff showed up. We ended up at Captain Jack’s in Cape Vincent. That was also kind of interesting… It’s rather tucked away down on the shore. I almost ended up accidentally driving on to a ferry. But we did find it. A decent place, but a little on the lower side of things… We decided to eat out on the deck next to the water. This was… so so… There were 3 drunk guys next to us who were occasionally slightly worrisome, but not too bad. It was also slightly dirtyish, and you could see some garbage laying on the bottom under the water at the docks. Garbage as in stuff that had fallen off the docks like a tire, boards, etc. it just didn’t look super pretty. And then of course these little gnat things started hanging around. eh…
So we continued on and found a few ice cream places and stopped at one, and then around… 5-6 I think we found the Super8 here in Pulaski. Quite nice actually. It’s a king which seems to mean that it’s more like a suite. It is definitely the nicest room we’ve been on this trip. Sara seems to like it, she keeps talking about living here. It is nice, but I’m not ready to live here, and the wifi is just so so…
And then we just went out and found a nice little pizza restaurant and got a couple calzones of which we have halves left for breakfast tomorrow. (:
Sounds like a lovely time!

It sounds great except for the gnats! I’ll look forward to seeing the pics. 🙂

I bet it would get costly to LIVE there. I never want to leave hotels. You leave and it’s messy. Come back, and it’s like magic!
