Other food notes…
Two food related items from the last couple nights that I was going to mention but forgot…
#1) With my chicken parm (which includes spaghetti) I received a spoon. I was like "huh?" And asking Sara what they thought I was going to do with that… She looks at me in her usual loving way, which is to say "You’re an idiot." Then proceeds to try to demonstrate with her won spoon that you would in some way spin your fork full of spaghetti on this spoon. I didn’t really understand how that was going to help too much but I tried to eat it that way anyway. It may have worked slightly better. I asked if it was all right to lift it up in the air, cause that might help more. No, she didn’t think that was a good idea. I did it on occasion anyway. I asked what you were supposed to do with the long ones as usual and she proceeded to show me something that was somehow supposed to use the spoon to cut the spaghetti. That really didn’t seem to work at all. So in the end it was mostly my usual way of eating spaghetti in public which is to try and get it down quick when people aren’t around. Luckily there was only one other couple in the restaurant and they left after a bit. (:
#2) I decided to go crazy and order the $17 macadamia encrusted chicken. It was good and about what I expected, but also bad in what I expected. It was $17 for a boneless chicken breast that had honey and nuts on it. Well, come on, who doesn’t like honey and nuts? But I know if Sara liked such a thing she could make it for a couple bucks quite easily. For that matter, so could I. OK, yeah, it came with a salad and a potato and they brought out about as much sour cream as there was potato… And some yummy garlic bread… Oh, and a garnish that we both thought was a slice of beet, I thought I’d go crazy and try a bite and said "Umm, if this is a beet, I think I might like it…" Sara tells me she’s then getting ready to plant beets. I then proceeded to tell her maybe it was a slice of a can of raspberry relish… Very fruit like. Sara tried a bit and told me it was an apple ring soaked in cinnamon/sugar. Yep, that was it. YUM! Still. $17? A bit much I think. I mean, yeah, this is a steak and seafood place so the prices aren’t out of line, but I can’t really see why that chicken would be a couple bucks more expensive than the manicotti(oh, wait that didn’t come with a potato…)
So, in the end, it tasted good and the price wasn’t that bad, but it’s like looking at a normal gumball and for some reason it costs $5. That doesn’t make it worth that much or taste better… I would much prefer a cheaper burger or something. I think it’s just something I have an issue with. Still. Honey and nuts. Mmm. (:
I just can’t eat spaghetti in public – I’ve not found any way to do it without compromising my dignity. 😉

growing up italian i’ve master swirling my speghetti without the spoon lol but i think it’s acceptable to lift the spoon. better than slurping the speghetti in public. =P i had a bowl of soup at my brother’s restaurant for $6. a lil tiny bowl. it was definitely delish. but 6 bucks? and yet people keep going back so they must know what they’re dooing. =)
