Super Quick
I intend this to be quick, but I want to make note of it, because to I felt worthy of my job. I felt like someone that could not be replaced. I just felt good all the way around.
I went into work at 11am. I was on a register for a while, and then I was told by a lead that I was needed in Deli, as it was an emergency. Let me go back a little. Our Deli manager had a heart attack three days ago, only two hours after he came in to work. He was told by the District Manager to go home, and two hours later was in surgery. He has a full-time lead and a full-time worker. Both of which have worked as many hours as me the past week 65. The lead in Deli had yesterday and today off. The full-time person was wiped out as we are running on 12 days straight, and she was already over two hours today so she went home. My manager from my TX Deli came in to help cover or the manager here until he returns. He returned today. I told him to go home. LOL. As if I have that authority, but he did. John the Deli Manager from TX had been working straight since he arrived from TX. He said he had not eaten at all since yesterday, and had to go. That left just me for Deli. If you work a register you cannot work the food, and vice-versa. So, I went to Deli. I was there for 10 minutes then the Front End Lead came to the Deli and brought another cashier. He said, "Kim, I need you to train her on the register as quickly as possible" then went on to say, "I need you at Switchboard, you are the only one that knows how to do the guns, walkies and answer the phones." So, I trained Jessica on the cash register in Deli, then I went to switchboard. While I was on switchboard, camping called and said, "Kim, how much longer do you have there?" I need you in camping. You are the only one that has the product information, that is trained in the store." I said, "10 minutes." Then I went to camping. When I was in camping, Deli called back and said, "can you come back to Deli please." The girl they asked me to train at register was off. Ugh! It was fun, amusing, and kind of crazy; however, I did not get bored, and it was nice to be told, "Kim — You are the only one in the store that can ?????"
Tomorrow I work 11-8. I am scheduled 43 hours this week but have already worked 4 hours over that. If I can wake myself up I might go in early tomorrow and help out. I was already approved for the overtime by the hunting manager. Can you believe that? Hunting is giving me permission for overtime.
I love my job!!!
