Interview for Idaho
My day has been long. It seems a lot got accomplished. I got up early to make sure the girls were up for school. I then went back to sleep until 10am, then got up found a nice dress, made myself look like I would for an interview. Whitney’s school called. A long story I don’t want to get into right now, but basically Whitney is complaining she is getting bullied at school. She tests her limits at all new schools and tries to get out of class. In any case, it backfired, they only let her speak to them when it was lunch time or after school. I, however, had a meeting for over an hour on the phone with the dean of her school.
I got the phone call for the interview. I knew right away it wasn’t going to go well. I was told that Bill the general manager would be interviewing me. That is not the case. I was on speaker phone with two of the Human Resource people in Idaho. They started off by asking me if I looked at the qualifications before applying. I told them I had, but I felt that with the proper training the company gives that I was well qualified for the position and would not let them down. They did go ahead with the questions, but I was thrown off by not being interviewed by one person and who I expected. I prepared myself to be interviewed by a man. I prepare differently, because women and men have different expectations I believe, and well… I don’t know… Maybe I am just crazy. One of the questions they asked stumped me, they had to go on and come back to that question. It was what is one mistake you made in a company and what did you learn from it? My response when we went back to it was basically, Not to complain about your company or the people within your company even when you have a bad day, because it takes just saying one negative thing to one person to make them tell 10 people and could cause many people not to return. I said I have learned that you can say things that hurt you, but in a positive manner; for instance I felt like my manager was distant, he was probably having a bad day, so I left a card on his desk, VS. My manager is so rude, he doesn’t seem to care about his employees and has abandoned us. Hmmmm, maybe I should stop writing things like that in my diary. I just thought of that. LOL. It wasn’t that the interview went poorly, only that from the beginning they let me know I was not qualified, and I know that. However, before hanging up the Human Resource admin asked if I had considered being on the Training Team. She said, "you would be great for that position, because you have a lot of product knowledge and seem to really care about people." I thought she was professional and sincere. I appreciated the learning experience from the interview.
Around 3pm my girls got home from school, then the maintenance from our apartment got here. We had a leak in one bathroom, the screw broke on the plug in the other bathroom, the blinds broke, and the we were waiting on our new washer. I learned they replaced the washer Monday and I did not even know. They fixed the leak, and the blinds, but could not fix the plug yet so they put in another work order for that.
At 6pm the cable guy came out, because my cable was hooked up wrong. When we turned our TV off our internet and phone would also go off. He fixed it quickly. We then went to the grocery store to get some envelopes, lunches for Alexandra, and a few other things. Finally, we went to Five Guys to eat. I ran into a lady I work with. It was nice talking to her. She is a little weird, but it gave me a better understanding of why talking to her. We are all a little weird in our own way, and if you give someone a chance I think you could learn a lot about them.
We came home, I talked to Corban’s father online for a moment, talked to my brother, and now I am going to bed.
Trying to figure out a way to fly Whitney and Alexandra home for spring break, but somehow I will make it happen.
Goodnight!
