About Your Pregnancy
Is this your first pregnancy?:
Nope, this is my third. My first was my son Ville, born 1/29/2007 and my second was my angel baby Miracle, lost on 8/18/2008 at 7w6d.
When did you find out you were pregnant?:
December 3rd, 2012. at 3w 4d.
Was it planned?:
Kinda. We’d tried forever and then we gave up when my ED reared its ugly head again. I’d just reentered recovery in hopes of trying again shortly when… SUPRISE!
What was your first reaction?:
I kind of freaked out and was shaking. I googled the test results because I was convinced 2 lines couldn’t be positive. Then I went out and bought 2 digital ones, just to be sure.
Who was with you when you found out?:
Nobody, I was alone.
Who was the first person you told?:
I told Darryl a couple days later. I’d planned to wait until I’d officially missed my period, but I had an anxiety attack over the fear of another loss and I wound up telling him so he wouldn’t worry.
How did your parents react?:
My mom was beyond excited. She’d known how much we wanted another baby and she was thrilled to be a grandmother again. She’d have spoiled this boy just as rotten as she did Ville.
How far along are you?:
Today I’m 20 weeks and 4 days!
What was your first symptom?:
I had horrid mood swings, to the point that I was throwing stuff at people, screaming at them, and then crying my eyes out over it. That was when my SIL handed me the test and told me to take it.
What is your due date?:
August 14, 2013!
Do you know the sex of the baby?:
Yup! Found out a few weeks ago!
If so, what is it?:
IT’S A BOY!
Have you picked out names?:
<td align="left" style="border: none; padding: 2px; vertica
l-align: top;”>We’d had a girl name picked out for months, and were stuck on the boy name. We decided on Liam the night we found out he was a boy.
If so, what are they?:
If he was a girl he would have been Daenerys Lynn, but since he’s a boy he’s Liam Omar. <3
How much weight have you gained?:
I’ve gained around 12 lbs. Give or take a few depending on certain embarrassing pregnancy related factors…
Do you have stretch marks?:
Not from this pregnancy. I have very few from my last pregnancy. Most of them are from when I was younger and gained a bunch of weight.
Have you felt the baby move?:
Since week 11. Darryl’s been dying to feel him, but he’s stubborn and won’t kick hard enough.
Have you heard the heartbeat?:
Yup, since I was fighting with Medicaid and the doctor wouldn’t see me, I bought a doppler. Saved me from having panic attacks most nights.
About the birth
Will you keep the baby?:
Of course!
Home or hospital birth?:
Hospital, there’s no way Darryl could handle a home birth!
Natural or medicated birth?:
IV medication, but keep that damn epidural as far away from me as possible!
Who will be in the delivery room with you?:
It’ll be just Darryl and I. With Ville we asked both my mom and his to be there and it was a nightmare.
Will you breastfeed?:
Yup, I’m aiming to exclusively breastfeed for a full year this time. Last time I had to supplement with formula because my pump wasn’t all that great and they forced me onto regular birth control pills when he was only 9 months old. Not letting them talk me into shit this time around.
Do you think you’ll need a c-section?:
I doubt it, it would definitely be a final emergency resort.
Will you cry when you hold the baby for the first time?:
Most likely. I don’t think I did with Ville, but I went through a lot and was just in such awe at the perfect little person I’d created. I think this time will be more emotional because we’d been fighting for this little one.
What’s the first thing you might say to him/her?:
Hi, I’m your Momma. I think that’s what I said to Ville. Everything in that moment is a blur because all I remember is staring into his little eyes.
Would you let someone videotape the birth?:
I’d be wiling to let someone if they wanted to. I don’t think Darryl would want to since it’d probably freak him out to actually see the whole process from that angle. He’s already panicky because he remembers the way I screamed during the episiotomy. Oh joy, he had to remind me of THAT!
Are you excited about the birth, or scared?:
Beyond excited, but I admit I’ve been seriously terrified during this pregnancy. I used to love being pregnant, but now, after a loss, it’s just so stressful and I’m so terrified that something will go wrong.
