Weekend wrap-up

The weekend started out with a flurry of activity as I dashed home from the interview and ran into the house to feed the dogs, change my clothes, run up my electric bill with the A/C (It was 97 in my house on Friday afternoon…poor animals were roasting in there!) and then hop into the car to brave traffic to get to the store in a timely manner

It was nice to spend a little time with both Cathy and Glenna (she works there as well). I rarely am there at the same time as them, so it was nice to sit and talk, eat grapes like they are going out of style (I had stopped at the store for some snacks on the way). We all sat and ate grapes, talked and laughed, it was a nice way to wind down from the interview and the surprisingly not so harsh traffic down there

Cathy left and HiC the store’s tarot reader, who was having a class on rituals that night came out and started setting up the area he was going to be talking. When I fill in on Friday nights, I really just tune them out and go about my business. Walk around the store, spend time with the rare customers (we usually have them later on the weekends)

Towards the end of the evening, HiC asked me to participate in the prosperity ritual and hey, who doesn’t want more prosperity right? So that was nice to be involved, got to close the store early and I closed up after they were done

I had planned on going to see a psychobilly band at the Blank down in SJ, however, I was just so worn out by the heat and the interviewing and well, just worn out! I headed home and stayed up a little to watch tv and hang out when Mar got home

Saturday morning found me with a kitten on my neck and Mar waking me up laughing as I was startled when she woke me.

We headed to the Art & Wine festival early as we wanted to get it all done in a timely manner, as I was driving her to work after that. I wanted to spend a little time with her, we rarely see each other these days

We blazed down the street, found a few cool things, and jumped on the road to work. She’s really not happy with work and it doesn’t do much good to try to get her to change her perspective, she’s still in that denial mode. She’s in a weird business too, the restaurant business is a hard one, all the way around.

Got home from the city, I hung out up there, got a burger at the burger place near where the Giants play (they had a game on Saturday) and walked around the stores near the ball park and then headed home. I had called my friend Paul to see what he was up to and left a message

I sat around the house for a while, did some chores, and when he called me back I was just settling down for a nice relaxing albeit hot afternoon watching the game. He decided we needed to go out to dinner and see a movie, and really, who am I to resist when someone wants to take me out?

We took the new mustang convertible that he had purchased for his now ex-girlfriend (don’t ask, he’s a loose cannon) and we headed to Fridays for dinner. Mister Paul doesn’t have any boundaries or limits and rarely does he eat like a normal person. I am hoping that spending time with me he will start being a little more…I don’t know, civilized?

Now I normally don’t make the mistake of saying things like, oh, I like that, or I need this because inevitably Paul will just whip out his wallet and buy it for me. He’s the sort that feels that he needs to buy someone’s company, and for some reason he doesn’t realize by now that I genuinely enjoy hanging out with him, to a point. He’s just so out of control sometimes

I say that now…in hindsight, I should have just kept quiet

Instead we’re walking through Macy’s and I mentioned that they are having a sale, let’s check out kitchen appliances

<span style="font-family: Comic Sans MS”>I looked and commented on all the toaster ovens, which I mentioned we needed, and sure enough, he sweeps up one and takes it to the counter to buy it for me!

I have a shiny new convection/toaster oven on my counter now…doh

Went to see Death Race with that super hot Jason Statham and actually enjoyed it. We laughed and talked all the way home and I went to get Mar from the train station around 11:30

Sunday was just spent doing chores, watching sports (Damn those Cubs!) and Mar and I went out to dinner and spent some time at the supermarket.

I realize now that she literally doesn’t speak during the day, so when she gets home, she never.stops.talking!

I did see some things this weekend that I would love to start doing on my own. I miss being in a relationship (would love to curl up with someone on a lazy Sunday morning) and I want to be carefree enough to sit at a coffee house, sip tea, read the paper (who reads the paper nowadays?) and watch the people walk by.

I don’t think I would actually go to a coffee shop, unless I lived in the city like in SF, however, I did think that I have a great backyard, with lawn furniture (it’s a deck, the grass is in the front) and I could sit out there on the weekends, or even in the evenings and relax a little more.

I want something different, and I have yet to figure out what that is
