I am a really bad parent

And it really breaks me up to the point of trying to figure out how to go on from this point

So when our kitten Lekso got so sick just after coming home, we spent a lot of time with him, putting meds in his face, making sure he was ok

In hindsight introducing him to Snow wasn’t such a great idea, since URI’s are so contagious

And yes, Snow got sick…and we thought it would blow over because he gets URI’s all the time and nothing comes of it

Mar noticed a few weeks ago like something was up with Snow’s eye and I thought it was just an irritation from the cold

Last night I got home from the interview (which went, I thought, really well) and I walked into the house with Mar and went into the kitchen.  There was Snow, in his bed on top of the butcher’s block, eye closed and dripping liquid

From there it was a discussion about finances, about the options, about getting him in the car to get him to the vet

The vet laid it all on the line for us and its not good

Snow has a blown cornea, how that happened we aren’t sure, perhaps from itching the weepy eyes so much, who really knows?

So we talked about surgery (not an option as its more than my rent) and talked about treatment, which is what we are doing.  His meds line my bathroom counter now, as that’s where he lives and will stay until his eye stabilizes

We would have had different meds however while trying to fit him with a collar, his eye blew out again, causing him to bleed out of the eye in the waiting area

Had I have known that he would have gotten so sick, sure I would have taken him to the vet sooner.  He’s 16, he’s always gotten better, every time

I am the one that gets to torture another animal in my house, torture meaning the meds giver.  I am also the one that sits in the bathroom with this poor guy at 4am while he navigates his new, soon to be blind, world

Did I mention that my 15 year old car needs to be repaired yet again?
