Start of the weekend

It’s been a fast week, but incredibly busy again.  Sure does seem to be the norm anymore, but I guess that’s all right.  I love the feeling of people relying on me to get things done and they are sure showing that here lately.  Friday afternoons are my favorite time of the week.  Everybody is relaxed and we have a lot of fun up there.  There’s generally not more than four or five of us there by then because a lot of the people that have been there forever have lots of vacation time.  They tend to take either all of Friday or at least half of Friday off.    Today, I was trying very hard to get everything done because I am off now for four straight days.  I didn’t want to leave anything hanging for Jeri to have to deal with while I am gone.  So, we’d work really hard for a while, then play for a while….then go back to work and then play.  It was a good mix and all of us enjoyed it.

We are going to my Moms for the weekend, leaving tomorrow morning some time.  Mike gets off work at 8 and we’ll load the car up and more than likely be well on our way by 10 or 11.  We’ve not packed anything yet, but that’s ok.  We’re not going to be in a huge hurry.  We’ll have all day Sunday down there as well as most of Monday.  We’re going to come back Monday afternoon, I don’t like leaving the cats on their own for more than two nights.  We take the dogs with us, of course.  Mom has a beagle that lives outside under her carport.  His name is Fatty and he is just so cute.  Gracie loves him, and so she has a buddy down there now when we go visit.  I love to watch them play.  I’ll try to remember to get pictures this time.  Irwin isn’t so sure about him, he’d rather just stay back and watch them.

We’re bringing lots of things down for the baby, of course.  I just can’t wait to see her.  I can’t even imagine how much she’s grown since we were there last.  I hear her all the iime when I’m talking to Mom on the phone and she is just too cute.

My plans tonight were to go watch my DVR’d recording of the Royal Wedding, but I never made it back to the living room after Mike left to do it.  I started playing my games on Facebook and that was all I did.  It’s almost 10:30 now and so I don’t think I’ll even start watching it now.  I can do that whenever.  I avoided the highlights today so it wasn’t all just a repeat to me.  I know a lot of people were tired of hearing about it, but I thought it was exciting.  I’m really genuinely happy for Prince William and his new bride Kate.  They make a beautiful couple and Princess Diana would be so incredibly proud.

Mike has been working away on his Aspen and loving it.  He drives it to work almost all the time now, our poor truck is feeling neglected.  haha  One of our company cars at work is a Ford Escape.  It’s white and about as basic as it could possibly be, even down to hand crank windows.  But, I love it.  It drives nice, is comfortable, it’s roomy, and I just plain like it.  I really would like to have one, but I don’t want to trade our Grand Prix in.  I’ve not talked to Mike about it seriously yet, I need to do some more research and see how smart it would be to buy one right now.  I really do love the work one though and one of my best friends has one as well.  I know they like theirs, but I’ve never talked to them about it in detail.  So, we’ll just have to see.  I’m not usually one to get a major purchase like that stuck in my head, but I just can’t get rid of it, and every time I drive our company one, it makes it worse.

Our department has five vehicles in our area assigned to it and three more vehicles downtown.  We have the Escape, a Ford Fusion, and three Ford trucks.  Two extended cabs and one single cab.  Out of all of those, the only one I hate to drive is the single cab because it sits really high with no steps.  I call it the pole vault truck and everybody laughs at me.  I think they leave it there for Jeri and I on purpose, we are the two with the shortest legs.  haha

I want to go to Bath & Body Works tomorrow before we head to Mom.  They are having a tote bag promotion featuring their new scent, Into the Wild.  I have a small bottle of it and it smells SO good.  Their other new scent, Country Chic also smells really nice.  I’d like to buy some more products with those two scents.  Love them.

Irwin and Grace keep looking at me, I think they are ready for bed.  I probably should head that way myself, tomorrow looks to be a very long day.  I hope all of you have a great weekend, I know I will.

Take care of yourselves!

I love the Ford Escape but it’s too small for our family. Maybe once some of the kids are grown and gone? Hope you had a lovely weekend with your Mom and the baby.
